The cell wall of Brevibacterium permense VKM Ac-2280 contains two teichoic acids. The major polymer represents a 1,6-poly(mannitol phosphate) substituted wirh either L-rhamnose (approximately 70%, unit A) or (S)-acetal of pyruvic acid (approximately 30%, unit B) with the overall chain length approximately 10 mannitol phosphate units. [carbohydrate structure: see text] The other polymer is an unsubstituted 1,3-poly(glycerol phosphate). The structures of the polymers were established using chemical degradations and NMR spectroscopy. The data obtained may be helpful in determination of the species-specific status of newly isolated Brevibacterium strains.

Background: Metabolomics offers promise in uncovering potential biomarkers and understanding the pathophysiology of autoimmune encephalitis (AE), which is a cluster of disorders with the host immune system targeting self-antigens expressed in the central nervous system (CNS). In this research, our objective was to explore metabolic characterization in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from individuals with AE, aiming to shed light on the pathophysiology of AE.
Methods: A targeted approach was applied using an ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) system to study CSF metabolites in patients with AE (n = 18), and control subjects without neurological diseases (n = 17).

Photosynthesis harvests solar energy to convert CO into chemicals, offering a potential solution to reduce atmospheric CO. However, integrating photosynthesis into non-photosynthetic microbes to utilize one-carbon substrates is challenging. Here, a photosynthesis system is reconstructed in E.

Pyruvate metabolism defects lead to severe neuropathies such as the Leigh syndrome (LS) but the molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal cell death remain poorly understood. Here, we unravel a connection between pyruvate metabolism and the regulation of the epitranscriptome that plays an essential role during brain development. Using genetically engineered mouse model and primary neuronal cells, we identify the transcription factor E4F1 as a key coordinator of AcetylCoenzyme A (AcCoA) production by the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) and its utilization as an essential co-factor by the Elongator complex to acetylate tRNAs at the wobble position uridine 34 (U).

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is an important and common adverse drug event. Rhododendron molle Flos (RMF), as one of toxic Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs), holds a prominent position in clinical practice for treating rheumatoid arthritis. However, the toxicity of RMF limits its safe.

Introduction: Previous research has suggested a link between the onset of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and metabolic disorder; however, the findings have been inconsistent. To date, the majority of metabolomics studies have focused on AD, resulting in a relative paucity of research on early-stage conditions such as mild cognitive impairment (MCI) underexplored. In this study, we employed a comprehensive platform for the early screening of individuals with MCI using high-throughput targeted metabolomics.
