Background: The usefulness of circulating free DNA (cfDNA), nuclear DNA (nDNA) and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) as potential biomarkers in cancer remains controversial.
Objective: To determine the concentration of cfDNA and plasma nDNA and mtDNA levels in breast cancer (BC) patients.
Material And Methods: This study included a total of 86 women (69 patients with BC and 17 women as a control group).

High concentrations of neutrophil degranulation products in the plasma and thrombi are poor prognostic indicators in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). This study aimed to identify candidate effectors capable of mediating neutrophil degranulation post-AIS, and to reveal their underlying epigenetic mechanisms. Microarrays and ChIP-seq were applied to analyze the neutrophils of patients with AIS.

Bone mineral density (BMD) measured by T-score is strongly associated with bone health, but research on its association with metals in humans body remains limited. To investigate the relationship between metal exposure and BMD, numbers of 159 participants in eastern China were studied. Urine and blood samples were collected and levels of 20 metals in the samples were measured using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS).

Purpose: A first-in-human phase one study was conducted in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients to assess the safety and tolerability of VK-2019, a small molecule selective inhibitor of Epstein-Barr virus Nuclear Antigen 1 (EBNA1).
Patients And Methods: Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies, including circulating tumor EBV DNA plasma levels, were performed. Twenty-three patients received VK-2019 orally once daily at doses ranging from 60 to 1800 mg using an accelerated titration design, with cohort expansion at 1800 mg.

Rapid weight gain in infancy is associated with an increased risk of later adiposity. Very rarely, however, exclusively breastfed infants experience excessive weight gain (EWG) during the period of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) when breast milk is the only source of nutrition. We investigated growth and body composition at 36 months in children experiencing EWG during EBF.
