Since clinical management of patients and clinical research are essentially time-oriented endeavours, reasoning about time has recently become a hot topic in medical informatics. Here we present a method for prognosis of temporal courses, which combines temporal abstractions with Case-based Reasoning. We have applied our method in two programs. The first one deals with multiparametric time course prognosis of the kidney function. The intention of the second program is to compute early warnings against approaching infectious diseases like influenza.

In developing nations, the biggest threat to public health is the quality of the water. The Kulfo River provides the majority demand of the domestic water and irrigation along its course; however, it is observed that wastes from anthropogenic and natural activities enter the river. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the pollution status by integrating conventional methods with benthic macroinvertebrates.

Owing to China's massive area and vastly differing regional variations in the types and efficiency of energy, the spatiotemporal distributions of regional carbon emissions (CE) vary widely. Regional CE study is becoming more crucial for determining the future course of sustainable development worldwide. In this work, two types of nighttime light data were integrated to expand the study's temporal coverage.

Background: To establish an objective method for assessing plus disease severity in retinopathy of prematurity.
Methods: Six images of plus diseases that were color-coded according to severity and published in the International Classification of Retinopathy of Prematurity, Third Edition (ICROP3) were analyzed. These images were individually processed, and the best-fit curve and vessel course in zone I were obtained using ImageJ software.

Selective speech adaptation refers to the phenomenon where repeated exposure to identical speech sounds temporarily reduces sensitivity to that sound. We used EEG to track the time-course of this effect. Participants were first exposed to the Dutch vowels /e/ or /ø/ and subsequently identified ambiguous sounds halfway between these phonemes.

Introduction: Active duty service members (ADSMs) may be at heightened risk for eating disorders (EDs) and sub-clinical disordered eating (DE). ADSMs are also at a high risk for musculoskeletal injury (MSK-I). Given the risk for EDs/DE among ADSMs as well as robust physical requirements of military training, additional research is needed to elucidate links between DE and risk for MSK-I among ADSMs.
