Published: December 2003

Fifty-two clinical strains and 22 type and reference Aeromonas strains, previously genetically characterized by 16S rRNA gene restriction fragment length polymorphism, were identified in parallel with the MicroScan Walk/Away and BBL Crystal Enteric/Nonfermenter systems. The former identified only 14.8% of the isolates correctly, and the latter identified only 20.3% correctly, which indicates that neither of these systems is useful for this purpose.

Large-scale crystallization as an intermediate processing step in insulin downstream process: explored advantages and identified tool for process intensification.

Bioprocess Biosyst Eng

December 2023

Biocon Biologics Limited (BBL), Biocon Research Center (BRC), Biocon Park, Plot No. 2 & 3, Bommasandra Industrial Estate, IV Phase, Bommasandra Jigani Link Road, Bangalore, 560 099, India.

The rising global prevalence of diabetes and increasing demand for insulin, calls for an increase in accessibility and affordability of insulin drugs through efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes. Often downstream operations become manufacturing bottlenecks while processing a high volume of product. Thus, process integration and intensification play an important role in reducing process steps and time, volume reduction, and lower equipment footprints, which brings additional process efficiencies and lowers the production cost.

We study the organic electrochemical transistor (OECT) performance of the ladder polymer poly(benzimidazobenzophenanthroline) (BBL) in an attempt to better understand how an apparently hydrophobic side-chain-free polymer is able to operate as an OECT with favorable redox kinetics in an aqueous environment. We examine two BBLs of different molecular masses from different sources. Regardless of molecular mass, both BBLs show significant film swelling during the initial reduction step.

Introduction: There is a lack of data concerning hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) due to multidrug resistant non-fermentative gram-negative bacilli (MDR-NFGNB) in Somalia, and this study will aim to analyze the epidemiology of MDR-NFGNB among HAP patients in tertiary care hospital in Somalia.

Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective study which evaluated the presence of MDR-NFGNB among 2003 HAP patients between June 2017 and May 2022 in a tertiary care hospital in Somalia. NFGNB were cultured on blood agar and eosin methylene blue agar and were then used BBL crystal system and oxidase biochemical assays for identification.

A series of lanthanide alkoxo complexes supported by ONNO salalen ligands were synthesized and characterized. A one-pot reaction of LH (L = (2-O-CH-Bu-3,5)CH═N-CH-N(CH)CH(2-O-CH-Bu-3,5)) with LnCp(THF) in a 1:1 molar ratio followed by the addition of 1 equiv of ROH (R = Bn, Pr, and CFCH), afforded the dimeric lanthanide alkoxo complexes [LLn(μ-OCHPh)] [Ln = Lu (), Yb (), Sm (), Nd ()], [LYb(μ-OPr)] (), and [LYb(μ-OCHCF)] () in good isolated yields. All these lanthanide complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy.
