Lymphomas are relatively rare in the orbit: only about 8-11% of all orbital tumours. The most common histological type is diffuse well-differentiated lymphocytic lymphoma (DWDLL--Rappaport's classification)--70%. Orbital lesions are always curable by radiotherapy, but in some 40% of these patients local recurrence or dissemination occur. The authors present two patients with diffuse well-differentiated lymphocytic lymphoma, and one patient with FCC lymphoma of centrocytic type (Kiel classification) localized in the orbit. Two of them were irradiated after an unsuccessful treatment by chemotherapy. In the third patient local radiotherapy is still in the course.

The Esophageal Adenocarcinoma Study Group Europe (EACSGE) recently proposed a granular histologic classification of esophageal-esophago-gastric junctional adenocarcinomas (EA-EGJAs) based on the study of naïve surgically resected specimens that, when combined with the pTNM stage, is an efficient indicator of prognosis, molecular events, and response to treatment. In this study, we compared histologic classes of endoscopic biopsies taken before surgical resection with those of the surgical specimen, to evaluate the potential of the EACSGE classification at the initial diagnostic workup. A total of 106 EA-EGJA cases with available endoscopic biopsies and matched surgical resection specimens were retrieved from five Italian institutions.

Pancreatic malignant tumors are diverse and characterized by aggressive nature with high mortality rates. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the most common type of pancreatic malignant tumors and accounts for approximately 90% of pancreatic malignancies. A subtype of PDAC, diffuse type PDAC (DTP), is a very rare and underreported tumor, known for its aggressive traits.

Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) arise from diffuse neuroendocrine cells and are categorized as either well-differentiated and less proliferative Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs), divided into low (G1), middle (G2), and high grades (G3), or poorly differentiated, and more proliferative Neuroendocrine Carcinomas (NECs). Low-grade NENs typically necessitate surgical intervention, whereas high-grade ones often require chemotherapy. However, low-grade NENs may exhibit aggressive behavior.

Introduction: Neuroendocrine neoplasm (NENs) make up approximately 2-3 % of gallbladder malignancies, while only 0.5 % of all NENs develop in the gallbladder. Most Gallbladder neuroendocrine neoplasms (GB-NENs) are discovered incidentally during pathological examinations post-cholecystectomy.

Article Synopsis
  • Peritoneal mesothelioma (PM) is a rare and aggressive cancer with different subtypes, and locoregional therapies like cytoreductive surgery (CRS) combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) are being used to treat it.
  • A study evaluated 15 patients who underwent CRS and HIPEC, finding that 85.7% achieved complete cytoreduction, but there were complications in 28.6% of cases, with a median follow-up of 55 months.
  • Overall, 64.3% of patients had no evidence of disease by the end of follow-up, indicating that with effective treatment, good oncological outcomes are possible for those with this rare disease
