We present a compact and robust phase-shifting lateral shearing interferometer that produces shearing fringes in orthogonal directions without any mechanical rotation or precise alignment. It consists of two pairs of wedge plates, a beam splitter, and a single CCD camera. Both phase-shifting and tilt for lateral shearing are achieved with two pairs of wedge plates, which can reduce systematic errors caused by external vibration and atmospheric disturbance.

Lip ulcers associated with endotracheal tube fixation are a known complication in adults, but their prevalence in neonates and preterm infants remains unclear. We report a case of a right oral commissure ulcer that developed during endotracheal tube fixation at the right oral commissure and left lateral decubitus positioning in an extremely preterm infant with unilateral pulmonary interstitial emphysema (PIE). A male infant was born at 24 weeks and four days of gestation, weighing 696 gm.

The new type of support disc-type anchor is an expanded body anchor with broad application prospects, and its load-bearing performance is significantly better than that of traditional anchors. However, there is a problem of premature shear damage in traditional support disc-type anchors. In order to solve this problem, this paper improves the traditional support disk anchor.

Ultrasonic time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) technique is applied to non-destructive testing in engineering, but the dead zone influences its applicable range. Alternative TOFD techniques adopt the indirect diffracted waves having long propagation times to decouple from the lateral wave and detect near-surface defects. It should be noted that the applicability of these diffracted waves varies with parameter conditions employed for detection, e.

Accurate characterisation of seismic source mechanisms in mining environments is crucial for effective hazard mitigation, but it is complicated by the presence of anisotropic geological conditions. Neglecting anisotropic effects during moment tensor (MT) inversion introduces significant distortions in the retrieved source characteristics. In this study, we investigated the impact of ignoring anisotropy during MT inversion on the reliability of hazard assessment.

The bio-inspired honeycomb column thin-walled structure (BHTS) is inspired by the biological structure of beetle elytra and designed as a lightweight buffer interlayer to prevent damage to the reinforced concrete bridge pier (RCBP) under the overload impact from vehicle impact. According to the prototype structure of the pier, a batch of scale models with a scaling factor of 1:10 was produced. The BHTS buffer interlayer was installed on the reinforced concrete (RC) column specimen to carry out the steel ball impact test.
