Background: Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a potentially fatal bacterial infection of the soft tissues. Liver cirrhosis appears to be a contributing factor to higher morbidity and mortality in patients with NF. This research article explores the relationship between these two conditions.

Mushroom poisoning, predominantly caused by α-amanitin, is a critical food safety concern in worldwide, with severe cases leading to hepatotoxicity and fatalities. This study delves into the hepatotoxic effects of α-amanitin, focusing on the NLRP3 inflammasome and PPAR-γ's regulatory role in inflammation. In vitro studies with L-02 cells showed that α-amanitin reduces cell viability and triggers NLRP3 inflammasome activation, increasing NF-κB phosphorylation and pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-18 and IL-1β.

Necroptosis is a regulated form of cell death implicated in several pathological conditions, including viral infections. In this study, we investigated the expression and correlation of necroptosis markers MLKL, RIP1 and RIP3 in human liver tissue from fatal cases of yellow fever (YF) using immunohistochemistry (IHC). The liver samples were obtained from 21 YF-positive individuals and five flavivirus-negative controls with preserved liver parenchymal architecture.

Background: Despite kidney transplantation being a life-saving procedure, patients experience a high risk of developing fungal infections (FIs), with an increased risk of both morbidity and mortality, especially during the first year after transplant.
Methods: We herein conducted a narrative review of the most common FIs in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs), with a focus on prevalence, risk factors, mortality, and prevention strategies.
Results: The most common fungal pathogens in KTRs include species (up to 70% of the overall FIs), species, , and species.

: While the concept of viral community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) changed with COVID-19, the role of non-influenza viruses as a cause of CAP is less clear. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical course, risk factors, inflammatory profiles, antibiotic use, outcomes and complications of adenoviral (AdV) CAP. : A prospective, non-interventional, observational cohort study included consecutively hospitalized immunocompetent adult patients with AdV CAP during an 18-month period.
