Based on the absolute values of the different nystagmus reactions, measured after having used the rotational test on 70 healthy subjects, the directional preponderance (DP) was calculated in the present study according to the equation of Jongkees and Philippszoon. It could be shown that a DP of less than +/- 30% can be regarded as a normal standard only if it refers to the summarised nystagmic reaction of the per- and first postrotatory phase (Per+PI) of the test. Depending on the different parameters (frequency, amplitude or slow phase velocity of the nystagmus reactions), higher standard values have to be accepted for the different phases of the rotational test. The differentiation between healthy persons on the one hand and patients with an acute loss of vestibular function on the other can be best achieved by evaluating the nystagmographic reactions via the amplitude. Summing up, the modified rotational test also proved to be a very sensitive method in follow-up examinations of patients with vestibular lesions to differentiate between acute and compensated or regenerated stages of the disease.

Alexander's law states that spontaneous nystagmus increases when looking in the direction of fast-phase and decreases during gaze in slow-phase direction. Disobedience to Alexander's law is occasionally observed in central nystagmus, but the underlying neural circuit mechanisms are poorly understood. In a retrospective analysis of 2,652 patients with posterior circulations stroke, we found a violation of Alexander's law in one or both directions of lateral gaze in 17 patients with lesions of unilateral lateral medulla affecting the vestibular nucleus.

Background: Posterior tibialis tendon dysfunction (PTTD) is a debilitating condition that leads to biomechanical changes, for which foot orthoses are often prescribed to attenuate. There is a need to improve the ability to predict these biomechanical alterations, determine the biomechanical effectiveness of foot orthoses, and anticipate their effects on individuals with PTTD during gait.
Research Question: Is the supination resistance test (SRT) reliable, and capable of predicting foot and ankle biomechanics, as well as the biomechanical effects of foot orthoses in individuals with PTTD during gait?
Methods: Twenty-one individuals with PTTD participated with supination resistance measured over two sessions.
The present study analyzed the kinematic changes under fatigue in highly trained adolescent swimmers during a 50-m all-out front cwal test. Twenty-four girls and fourteen boys aged 12-13 participated in the study. The movement of the hip rim was analyzed using a specialized inertial device equipped with a triaxial gyroscope and accelerometer to measure changes in angular velocity and acceleration.

Interprofessional teaching rounds are a practical application of interprofessional education in bedside teaching, yet there is a lack of research on how interprofessional teaching rounds should be implemented into medical education. This study aimed to describe our experience in developing and implementing interprofessional teaching rounds during a clerkship rotation for medical students, and compares its strengths and weaknesses relative to traditional teaching rounds. Medical students were assigned to either the interprofessional teaching round group ( = 24) or the traditional teaching round group ( = 25), and each group participated in their assigned type of teaching round.
