Background: Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is a critical enzyme widely used in clinical diagnostics. However, variations in measurement systems can lead to inconsistent results, potentially impacting clinical decision-making. This study aimed to evaluate the comparability of lactate dehydrogenase measurements by comparing routine methods with the IFCC reference method, and to analyze the standardization status of LDH testing through external quality assessment (EQA).

Providers of external quality assessment (EQA) programs evaluate data or information obtained and reported by participant laboratories using their routine procedures to examine properties or measurands in samples provided for this purpose. EQA samples must offer participants an equal chance to obtain accurate results, while being designed to provide results in clinically relevant ranges. It is the responsibility of the EQA provider to meet the necessary requirements for homogeneity, stability and some other properties of the EQA items in order to offer participants a fair, reliable and technically interesting EQA experience.

Objectives: Serum cystatin C (CysC) is a reliable and ideal endogenous marker for accurately assessing early changes in glomerular filtration rate (GFR), surpassing the limitations of creatinine-based estimated GFR. To improve the precision of GFR calculation, the development of strategies for accurately measuring serum CysC is crucial.
Methods: In this study, the full-length CysC pure product and fully recombinant N-labeled CysC internal standard were subjected to protein cleavage.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the validity of external quality assessment (EQA) laboratory results across various cultural and environmental contexts and to identify potential improvement areas.
Methods: The International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) Task Force on Global Laboratory Quality (TF-GLQ) conducted a 2-year study (2022 and 2023) in which EQA materials, related software and online training was provided by a commercial vendor to 100 laboratories in ten IFCC member society countries. The results were analysed on a monthly basis by the TF-GLQ, to show the number of submissions per country, tests per lab, acceptability rates, random failures and to get a measure of which analytes performed poorly.

Background: The escalating prevalence of diabetes underscores the need for precise diagnostic tools to facilitate effective management. Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) is a crucial biomarker for long-term glycemic control in diabetic patients. Point-of-care testing (POCT) for HbA1c offers rapid, accessible alternatives to conventional laboratory methods, but uncertainties persist regarding the accuracy and reliability of POCT assays.
