A new polymer based on a functionalized benzofulvene moiety has been synthesized by spontaneous polymerization of the monomer in the solid state. This polymer shows a very high molar mass, high solubility in the most common organic solvents, and thermoreversible polymerization properties. An interesting application in synthesis is reported.

The growing pursuit of carbon circularity in material fabrication has led to the increased use of recycled and biobased resources, especially in epoxy resin systems. Fossil-based bisphenols are being replaced with recycled bisphenol A (r-BPA) and lignin derivatives, both derived from previous processes. In this study, r-BPA was chemically recycled from end-of-life televisions, then converted into r-DGEBA and r-DAGBA through glycidylation and acrylic acid ring-opening.

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Qingdao University, Qingdao 266071, PR China. Electronic address:

The poor mechanics and functionality of natural-polymer hydrogels from gellan gum (GG) prohibit their practical application, despite the intrinsic thermo-reversible gelation nature, structural and quality consistency, biocompatibility, biodegradability and sustainability of microbial fermentation-produced GG. Herein, a dual-reinforcing strategy, i.e.

Oleogels (organogels) are systems resembling a solid substance based on the gelation of organic solvents (oil or non-polar liquid) through components of low molecular weight or oil-soluble polymers. Such compounds are organogelators that produce a thermoreversible three-dimensional gel network that captures liquid organic solvents. Oleogels based on natural oils are attracting more attention due to their numerous advantages, such as their unsaturated fatty acid contents, ease of preparation, and safety of use.

Covalent organic nanotubes offer enhanced stability, robustness, and functionality, compared to their noncovalent counterparts. This study explores constructing polydiacetylene (PDA) nanotubes using a two-step process: self-assembly via noncovalent interactions followed by UV-induced polymerization of a diacetylene template. A promising building block consisting of a hydrogen-bonding headgroup, barbituric acid, linked to a linear diacetylene chain was prepared.

Polymers synthesized with end-of-life consideration allow for recovery and reprocessing. "Living-anionic polymerization (LAP)" and hydrosilylation reaction were utilized to synthesize hair-end furan functionalized hairy nanoparticles (HNPs) with a hard polystyrene (PS) core and soft polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) hairs via a one-pot approach. The synthesis was carried out by first preparing the living core through crosslinking styrene with divinylbenzene using sec-butyl lithium, followed by the addition of the hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane (D3) monomer to the living core.
