[structure: see text] Two novel antimitotic heterocyclic alkaloids, ceratamines A (1) and B (2), have been isolated from the marine sponge Pseudoceratina sp., collected in Papua New Guinea. The structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated by analysis of spectroscopic data.

Article Synopsis
  • * A new compound, benzoimidazole derivative 37, shows strong cytotoxic effects and can overcome MDR in resistant A549 cells by disrupting microtubule assembly and reducing P-glycoprotein levels.
  • * In vivo tests indicate that compound 37 inhibits tumor growth effectively with low toxicity, making it a promising candidate for treating multidrug-resistant LUAD in future clinical applications.

One of the most dangerous aspects of cancers is their ability to metastasize, which is the leading cause of death. Hence, it holds significance to develop therapies targeting the eradication of cancer cells in parallel, inhibiting metastases in cells surviving the applied therapy. Here, we focused on two melanoma cell lines─WM35 and WM266-4─representing the less and more invasive melanomas.

Article Synopsis
  • Lutetium-177 [Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 is being studied for its effectiveness in improving survival and quality of life for patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer, but its benefits for hormone-sensitive prostate cancer are still unclear.
  • The UpFrontPSMA trial involved patients with high-volume metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer, who were randomly assigned to receive either [Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 followed by docetaxel or docetaxel alone as standard care.
  • The primary goal of the trial was to determine if patients treated with [Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 could achieve undetectable levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) after 48 weeks.

The primary cilium is a small organelle protruding from the cell surface that receives signals from the extracellular milieu. Although dozens of studies have reported that several genetic factors can impair the structure of primary cilia, evidence for environmental stimuli affecting primary cilia structures is limited. Here, we investigated an extracellular stress that affected primary cilia morphology and its underlying mechanisms.
