Mass spectrometry is frequently used to analyze complex oligosaccharides and glycopeptides. The spectra of glycans can be complicated and difficult to interpret without reference data. Unfortunately, no libraries of suitably pure and homogeneous standards have so far been compiled. The web-based tool GLYCO-FRAGMENT allows the generation of all theoretically possible MS relevant fragments of oligosaccharides as defined using the extended IUPAC nomenclature. The main focus of GLYCO-FRAGMENT is to support the manual assignment of all peaks contained in mass spectra of complex carbohydrates. The service is available at http://www.dkfz.de/spec/projekte/fragments/.

To suppress the significant vibration line spectra of piping systems under multi-frequency harmonic excitations, a novel dynamic vibration absorber (NDVA) is designed. The NDVA integrates numerous independent resonant units within a finite space through an ingenious structural design and possesses rich frequency regulation characteristics. A vibration model of the piping system equipped with the NDVA is established, and the approximate equivalent parameters of both the piping and the resonant units are inverted based on the frequency response function (FRF) test results.

Metabolites identification is the major bottleneck in untargeted LC-MS metabolomics, primarily due to the limited availability of MS information for most detected metabolites in data dependent acquisition (DDA) mode. To solve this problem, we have integrated the iterative, interval, and segmented window acquisition concepts to develop an innovative non-fixed segmented window interval data dependency acquisition (NFSWI-DDA) mode, which achieves comparable MS coverage to data independent acquisition (DIA) mode. This acquisition strategy harnesses the strengths of both DDA and DIA, which could provide extensive coverage and excellent reproducibility of MS spectra.

Alternative proteins (AltProts) are a class of proteins encoded by DNA sequences previously classified as noncoding. Despite their historically being overlooked, recent studies have highlighted their widespread presence and distinctive biological roles. So far, direct detection of AltProt has been relying on data-dependent acquisition (DDA) mass spectrometry (MS).
