Purpose: To assess the anatomy of the mandibular lingual vascular canals with the use of computed tomography (CT).
Materials And Methods: Seventy consecutive patients underwent preimplantation CT of the mandible. CT images were obtained on axial plane by using a bone reconstruction algorithm and then processed with dedicated software (Dentascan). The number of lingual vascular canals, the diameter of their entrance foramina and the distance of the foramina from the symphysis menti and from the lower edge of the mandible were measured in each patient. The median superior canal (MSC), the median inferior canal (MIC), the lateral mesial canals (LMC) and the lateral distal canals (LDC) were evaluated separately.
Results: 0 to 5 canals were found in each patient. The MSC was found to be present in 98.6% of cases; the mean diameter of the entrance foramen was 0.85+/-0.28 mm located adjacent the symphysis menti and 11.3+/-2.6 mm from the inferior margin of the mandible. The MIC was found to be present in 32.9% of cases; the mean diameter of the entrance foramen was 0.58+/-0.21 mm located adjacent the symphysis menti and 5.5+/-2.2 mm from the inferior margin of the mandible. LMCs were found to be present in 38.6% of cases; the mean diameter of their entrance foramina was 0.60+/-0.24 mm located 5.1+/-2.5 mm from the symphysis menti and 6.3+/-3.2 mm from the inferior margin of the mandible. LDCs were found to be present in 48.6% of the patients; the mean diameter of their entrance foramina was 0.58+/-0.19 mm located 19.3+/-7.3 mm from the symphysis menti and 6.6+/-5.4 mm from the inferior margin of mandible.
Conclusions: Dental CT detects the lingual vascular canals of the mandible in a high percentage of subjects and allows a good demonstration of their number, location and entrance foramen diameter. The evaluation of these canals is important in the preoperative planning of dental implants or in the planning of dental surgery in general so as to avoid bleeding due to damage of the vessels present in these canals.

Keyhole limpet haemocyanins (KLH1 and KLH2) from , are multi-subunit oxygen-carrying metalloproteins of approximately 3900 amino acids, that are widely used as carrier proteins in conjugate vaccines and in immunotherapy. KLHs and their derived conjugate vaccines are poorly characterized by LC-MS/MS due to their very stable supramolecular structures with megadalton molecular mass, and their resistance to efficient digestion with standard protocols. KLH1 and KLH2 proteins were conjugated to the conserved P0 peptide (pP0), derived from the P0 acidic ribosomal protein of sp.

Poloidal asymmetries in neutral and impurity ion temperatures and particle and impurity transports have been observed in many tokamaks. To investigate these asymmetries, space-resolved visible spectroscopic diagnostic of the ADTIYA-U tokamak has been upgraded to measure the spatial profile of Hα and impurities spectral line profile, ion temperature, and plasma rotation from both low and high field sides of the plasma, simultaneously with a better spatial resolution. This has been done by developing a linear array of 15 optical fibers as compared to the present linear array of nine fibers having a core diameter of 400 μm and coupling it to the entrance slit of a 1 m long high-resolution spectrometer of the existing diagnostic.

An attenuation of visible probe radiation identified in earlier absorption studies of microwave plasma-activated CH/H/Ar gas mixtures is shown to arise from nanoparticles in under-pumped regions on opposing sides of a reactor used for diamond chemical vapor deposition. The present modeling studies highlight (i) ejection of Si-containing species into the gas phase by reactive radical etching of the quartz window through which the microwave radiation enters the reactor, enabled by suitably high window temperatures () and the synergistic action of near-window H atoms and CH radicals; (ii) subsequent processing of the ejected material, some of which are transported to and accumulate in stagnation regions in the entrance to the reactor side arms; and (iii) the importance of Si in facilitating homogeneous gas phase nucleation, clustering, and nanoparticle growth in these regions. The observed attenuation, its probe wavelength dependence, and its variations with changes in process conditions can all be rationalized by a combination of absorption and scattering contributions from Si/C/H containing nanoparticles with diameters in the range of 50-100 nm.

The 'gas‒liquid‒solid' mechanism annealing method was used to create a superhydrophobic boron nitride nanotube (BNNT) stainless steel mesh in a tube furnace at 1250 °C in an NH environment. Fe powder was used as a catalyst, and B:BO = 4:1 was used as the raw material. The water droplets on the surface of the superhydrophobic material had a contact angle of approximately 150° and a slide angle of approximately 3°.
