Background: Stroke is one of the severe complications following surgery in patients with acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD). This study investigates the relationship between the preoperative serum uric acid to serum creatinine ratio (SUA/Scr) and postoperative stroke in patients undergoing total arch replacement with elephant trunk implantation for aortic dissection.

Methods: We included ATAAD patients who were hospitalized and underwent surgery between June 1, 2015 and June 1, 2023, with complete clinical information.

Therapeutic effects and mechanisms of Juanbilijieqing fang in ameliorating gouty arthritis in a murine model.

Toxicol Res (Camb)

February 2025

Department of Orthopedics, The First affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, No. 95 Shaoshan Middle Road, Yuhua District, Changsha City, Hunan Province, 410125, China.

This study aims to assess the safety, efficacy, and mechanisms of Juanbilijieqing Fang in a mouse model of gouty arthritis. C57BL/6 mice were allocated into six groups: control, gouty arthritis model, and treatment groups receiving varying doses of Juanbilijieqing Fang (low, medium, high), along with a positive control group treated with febuxostat. Gouty arthritis was induced via MSU crystal injection following a high-fat diet.

Introduction: Temporomandibular disorders have a multifactorial etiology including biological, biomechanical, neuromuscular, and biopsychosocial factors. Current research on temporomandibular disorders focuses on identifying clinically relevant biomarkers thus creating a new way of thinking about this dysfunction. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between salivary/blood concentrations of oxidative/nitrosative stress biomarkers and biopsychosocial findings in patients with temporomandibular disorder-myofascial pain with referral.

Ingestion of fructose and galactose may result in elevated lactate concentrations in patients with glycogen storage disease type 1 (GSD1). In this randomized cross-over pilot study, 7 patients with GSD 1a (6) and GSD1b (1) orally consumed a common-size fructose and galactose from either 200 mL of skimmed milk, 200 mL juice or 200 mL water. This was given after a night with their usual dietary treatment using either cornstarch, glycosade or continuous feed.

Carbon-doped bimetallic oxide nanoflakes for simultaneous electrochemical analysis of ascorbic acid, uric acid, and acetaminophen in sweat.

Anal Methods

January 2025

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Functional Materials Chemistry, School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai, 200237, People's Republic of China.

Non-invasive continuous detection using tears or sweat as substitutes for blood samples has become an emerging method for real-time monitoring of human health. However, its development is limited by the low sample volume and low level of analytes. The simultaneous determination of multi-analytes with highly sensitive electrochemical sensing platforms has undoubtedly resulted in breakthrough innovations.
