4-(piperidin-1-yl)pyridinium hexafluorophosphate at 150 K.

Acta Crystallogr C

Department of Chemistry, LaTrobe University, Bundoora, Victoria 3086, Australia.

Published: November 2003

Structural characterization of the title compound, C(10)H(15)N(2)(+).PF(6)(-), shows it to be ionic, with the pyridine rather than the piperidine N atom being protonated and forming hydrogen bonds to the counter-ions, resulting in two independent ion pairs. A number of unusual features are noted, in particular the remarkably close inter-ring hydrogen contacts [1.97 (3)-2.00 (3) A] and the considerable differences in the pair of cations, in respect of the torsion angles within the piperidine ring involving the bonds to either side of the N atom.

Background: Melanoma is the most aggressive and lethal skin cancer that affects thousands of people worldwide. Ruthenium complexes have shown promising results as cancer chemotherapeutics, offering several advantages over platinum drugs, such as potent efficacy, low toxicity, and less drug resistance. Additionally, anthraquinone derivatives have broad therapeutic applications, including melanoma.

In this study we report on the efficiency of a furane-indole-chromenone-based organic derivative () as a photocatalyst in the α-arylation of enol acetate upon LED irradiation at 405 nm, and as a photoinitiator/photocatalyst in the free radical polymerization of an acrylate group in the presence of -(4--butylphenyl)iodonium hexafluorophosphate (Iod) as an additive, or in the presence of both Iod and ethyl-4-(dimethyl amino) benzoate (EDB) under LED irradiation at 365 nm. The photochemical properties of this new light-sensitive compound are described, and the wide redox window (3.27 eV) and the high excited-state potentials / (+2.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have the advantages of abundant resources and low cost, making them potential candidates for the next-generation large-scale energy storage technology. However, the capacity fade during cycling used in sodium-ion batteries is a major challenge. The rational design of the electrolyte is one of the ways to solve these problems.

Tribological Properties of Selected Ionic Liquids in Lubricated Friction Nodes.

Materials (Basel)

December 2024

Faculty of Civil Engineering, Mechanics and Petrochemistry, Warsaw University of Technology, 09-400 Płock, Poland.

This article compares the rheological and tribological properties of three ionic liquids: Tributyl(methyl)phosphonium dimethyl phosphate 97%-MFCD, 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate 97%-BMIMPF6, and 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate 98%-BMIMBF4. Their density and kinematic viscosity at 20 °C and 40 °C were investigated, and tribological tests were carried out at the same temperatures with ball-on-disc contact. The test materials were made of 100Cr6 steel.

Hazardous electrolyte releasement and transformation mechanism during water protected spent lithium-ion batteries crushing.

J Hazard Mater

December 2024

School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai 200240,  PR China; Shanghai Institute of Pollution Control and Ecological Security, Shanghai 200092, PR China. Electronic address:

Wet-crushing with aqueous media protection is considered safer and more efficient than common inert-gas protected dry-crushing in preprocessing spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, it is also accompanied with the releasement and transformation of hazardous electrolyte, while the mechanisms and pollution impact yet remain unknown. Based on a self-built wet-crushing system, this topic was systematically investigated here.
