In many experimental situations it is an equation of the forced relaxator and not of the forced oscillator that describes a variation in the acoustic field of the interface width (i.e. of a characteristic distance between the surfaces composing the interface). The developed theory predicts that some types of the nonlinear relaxators (depending on the structure of the nonlinear interaction force between the surfaces) exhibit hysteresis in their response to continuous acoustic loading of first increasing and then decreasing amplitude. Nonlinear (unharmonic) variation of the interface width starts at threshold amplitude of the incident sinusoidal acoustic wave, which is higher than threshold amplitude for returning to sinusoidal motion. This dynamic hysteresis (and accompanying it bistability) are possible, in particular, if the dependence of the effective interaction force on the interface width admits two quasi-equilibrium positions of the interface (bistable interface) or if the force itself is hysteretic (hysteretic interface). These theoretical predictions are relevant to some recent experimental observations on the interaction of powerful ultrasonic fields with cracks.

Topological acoustic waveguides have a potential for applications in the precise transmission of sound. Currently, there is more attention to multi-band in this field. However, achieving tunability of the operating band is also of great significance.

Multivalued logic (MVL) systems, in which data are processed with more than two logic values, are considered a viable solution for achieving superior processing efficiency with higher data density and less complicated system complexity without further scaling challenges. Such MVL systems have been conceptually realized by using negative transconductance (NTC) devices whose channels consist of van der Waals (vdW) heterojunctions of low-dimensional semiconductors; however, their circuit operations have not been quite ideal for driving multiple stages in real circuit applications due to reasons such as a reduced output swing and poorly defined logic states. Herein, we demonstrate ternary inverter circuits with near rail-to-rail swing and three distinct logic states by employing vdW p-n heterojunctions of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) and MoS where the SWCNT layer completely covers the MoS layer.

Enhancing Hydrogen Evolution Reaction through Coalescence-Induced Bubble Departure on Patterned Gold-Silicon Microstrip Surfaces.

Hydrogen bubble adhesion to the electrode presents a major obstacle for green hydrogen generation via the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) as it would induce undesired overpotential and undermine the reaction efficiency by reducing reaction area, increasing transport resistance, and creating an undesired ion concentration gradient. While electrodes with aerophobic/hydrophilic surfaces have been developed to facilitate bubble detachment, they primarily rely on micro- and nanostructured catalyst surfaces to enhance buoyance-induced bubble departure. Here, we demonstrate that introducing nonreactive yet more hydrophilic surfaces can promote coalescence-induced bubble departure, thereby significantly reducing the transport overpotential and improving HER performance.

NMR spectroscopy presents boundless opportunities for understanding the structure, dynamics, and function for a broad range of scientific applications. Solid-state NMR (SSNMR), in particular, provides novel insights into biological and material systems that are not amenable to other approaches. However, a major bottleneck is the extent of user training and the difficulty of obtaining reproducible, high-quality experimental results, especially for the sophisticated multidimensional pulse sequences that are essential to provide site-resolved measurements in large biomolecules.

The present article deals with the modulation of oscillatory electroosmotic flow (EOF) and solute dispersion across a nanochannel filled with an electrolyte solution surrounded by a layer of a dielectric liquid. The dielectric permittivity of the liquid layer adjacent to supporting rigid walls is taken to be lower than that of the electrolyte solution. Besides, the aforesaid liquid layer may bear additional mobile charges, , free lipid molecules, charged surfactant molecules , which in turn lead to a nonzero charge along the liquid-liquid interface.
