Excessive nitrogen fertilizer application is the main driving force threatening soil health and reducing multiple soil functions. The enhanced-efficiency nitrogen fertilizers (EENFs), such as urease inhibitors (NBPT), nitrification inhibitors (DCD), and coated controlled-release urea (RCN), have been proven to be effective measures for reducing nitrogen fertilizer application. However, the effects of EENFs on soil quality (SQI), microbial metabolic characteristics, and soil ecosystem multifunctionality (EMF) and their internal relationships are still unclear.

High-throughput vertebrate animal model systems for the study of patient-specific biology and new therapeutic approaches for aggressive brain tumors are currently lacking, and new approaches are urgently needed. Therefore, to build a patient-relevant in vivo model of human glioblastoma, we expressed common oncogenic variants including activated human EGFR and PI3KCA under the control of the radial glial-specific promoter in syngeneic loss-of-function mutant zebrafish. Robust tumor formation was observed prior to 45 days of life, and tumors had a gene expression signature similar to human glioblastoma of the mesenchymal subtype, with a strong inflammatory component.

[Rapid confirmation method of food poisoning caused by Bacillus cereus cereulide in rice and flour products].

Wei Sheng Yan Jiu

July 2023

Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control, Key Laboratory of Diagnostic and Traceability Technologies for Food Poisoning, Beijing 100013, China.

Objective: To develop a method for rapid determination of Bacillus cereus cereulide in rice and flour products by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, providing emergency measures for food poisoning caused by cereulide.

Methods: Single rice and flour samples were extracted with acetonitrile aqueous solution, salting out, after centrifuged and filmed, the organic phase was directly determined. The complex matrix samples fried rice and noodles were extracted with acetonitrile aqueous solution, cleaned up with HLB column, a ACQUITY UPLC Peptide BEH C_(18) 300Å column(2.

Central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) rates increased substantially in the United States following the emergence of COVID-19 and subsequent surges. The pandemic resulted in hospital capacities being exceeded and crisis standards of care being implemented for sustained periods. As COVID-19 rates in the United States began to stabilize, some facilities did not return to previous CLABSI rates, indicating a change in practices that had a longer-term impact on CLABSI prevention.

Tumor microenvironment (TME) plays an important role in the growth, invasion, and metastasis of tumor cells. The pH of TME is more acidic in solid tumors than in normal tissues. Although targeted delivery in TME has progressed, the complex and expensive construction of delivery systems has limited their application.
