Artificial intelligence-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging-based pre-operative staging in patients with endometrial cancer.

Int J Gynecol Cancer

January 2025

Institute of Image-Guided Surgery, IHU Strasbourg, France; University of Strasbourg, ICube, Laboratory of Engineering, Computer Science and Imaging, Department of Robotics, Imaging, Teledetection and Healthcare Technologies, CNRS, UMR, Strasbourg, France.

Objective: Evaluation of prognostic factors is crucial in patients with endometrial cancer for optimal treatment planning and prognosis assessment. This study proposes a deep learning pipeline for tumor and uterus segmentation from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images to predict deep myometrial invasion and cervical stroma invasion and thus assist clinicians in pre-operative workups.

Methods: Two experts consensually reviewed the MRIs and assessed myometrial invasion and cervical stromal invasion as per the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics staging classification, to compare the diagnostic performance of the model with the radiologic consensus.

An intra-abdominal desmoid tumour: Case report.

Int J Surg Case Rep

January 2025

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Tahar Sfar University Hospital, 5111 Mahdia, Tunisia.

Introduction And Importance: Desmoid tumours typically arise in the abdomen and extremities. They are rare, originating from mesenchymal cells, with intra-abdominal desmoid tumours (DT) being even less common. While non-malignant and non-metastatic, they can be locally invasive, often necessitating surgical intervention for complete resection.

Purpose: To comprehensively compare the diagnostic ability and inter-reader agreement of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings for predicting massive hemorrhage after cesarean section in patients with placental malposition, aiming to identify the most reliable and objective indicators.

Methods: Totally, 148 consecutive patients with placental malposition underwent MRI and cesarean section at our hospital between January 2014 and July 2021. The patients were divided into massive and non-massive hemorrhage groups.

To establish a multivariate linear regression model for predicting the difficulty of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation of uterine fibroids based on multi-sequence magnetic resonance imaging radiomics features. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 218 patients with uterine fibroids who underwent HIFU treatment, including 178 cases from Yongchuan Hospital of Chongqing Medical University and 40 cases from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University (external validation set). Radiomics features were extracted and selected from magnetic resonance images, and potentially related imaging features were collected.

Background: Vaginal childbirth is one of the main risk factors for pelvic floor dysfunction. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can facilitate quantitative evaluation of the morphology and function of the pelvic floor in static and dynamic environments. The objective of this study was to investigate the changes in pelvic floor morphology and function in primigravida women before pregnancy (BP) and after vaginal delivery.
