[structure: see text]. An X-ray crystallographic study of zinc(II) 5,15-di-(2-methoxymethylphenyl)-porphyrin indicates that it forms a coordination polymer through ligation of the ether oxygen atoms on the porphyrin peripheries to the metal centers of two identical adjacent porphyrins. This gives a novel extensively linked, three-dimensional polymeric structure in which the zinc(II) metal forms a six-coordination center. The uniquely structured network has cavities between 4.81 and 9.27 angstroms, which makes it resemble molecular sieve materials.

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a biomarker for many diseases, and monitoring its activity level is important for disease diagnosis and treatment. In this study, we used the microdroplet technology combined with an laser-induced polymerization method to prepare the Ag nanoparticle (AgNP) doped hydrogel microbeads (HMBs) with adjustable pore sizes that allow small molecules to enter while blocking large molecules. The AgNPs embedded in the hydrogel microspheres can provide SERS activity, improving the SERS signal of small molecules that diffuse to the AgNPs.

Dendrimers enhance the selectivity and sensitivity of sensors through their synthetic, highly branched, three-dimensional structures and large surface area. This unique architecture enables precise functionalization with various recognition elements, significantly improving the specificity and sensitivity of electrochemical sensors for detecting disease markers, biomolecules, and environmental pollutants. Dendrimer-based electrochemical sensors offer promising advancements in healthcare, such as detecting biomarkers for heart disease, monitoring blood glucose levels, and sensitively determining cancer-related proteins.

The global quest for clean energy and sustainable processes makes advanced membrane extremely attractive for energy-intensive industrial gas separations. Here, we disclosed a series of ultra-high-performance gas separation membranes (PIM-3D-TB) from novel network polymers of intrinsic microporosity (PIM) that combine the advantages of solution processible PIM and small pore size distribution (PSD) of porous organic polymers (POP), which was synthesized by in situ copolymerization of triptycene-2,6-diamine as linear part and triptycene-2,6,13(14)-triamine (TTA) as crosslinker. The resulting PIM-3D-TB membranes demonstrated outstanding separation properties that outperformed the latest trade-off lines for H/CH and O/N.

Corneal blindness, a leading cause of visual impairment globally, has created a pressing need for alternatives to corneal transplantation due to the severe shortage of donor tissues. In this study, we present a novel interpenetrating network hydrogel composed of gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) and oxidized carboxymethyl cellulose (OxiCMC) for bioprinting a biomimetic corneal stroma equivalent. We tested different combinations of GelMA and OxiCMC to optimize printability and subsequently evaluated these combinations using rheological studies for gelation and other physical, chemical, and biological properties.

Crystalline porous materials, known for their ordered structures, hold promise for efficient hydroxide conductivity in alkaline fuel cells with limited ionic densities. However, the rigid cross-linking of porous materials precludes their processing into membranes, while composite membranes diminish materials' conductivity advantage due to the interrupted phases. Here, we report a self-standing three-dimensional covalent organic framework (3D COF) membrane with efficient OH-transport through its interconnected 3D ionic nanochannels.
