This work deals with isopolar, phosphonate-based nucleotide analogues containing a bridging P-C bond instead of the ester P-O linkage. Specifically, starting from activated derivatives 1, 2, and 3, a simple process for preparation of mixtures of short oligomers and their analyses were elaborated.

Background/objectives: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is one of the most common chronic diseases affecting the urinary tract that occurs mainly in men over 40 years of age. Among the natural therapies, proanthocyanidins (PACs), which can treat a wide range of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs), have been shown to play an important role in the treatment of pathologies concerning prostate health. In this regard, the present study aimed to evaluate the different bioactivities of a grape seed extract (GSE), rich in polymeric PACs, and its version processed under alkaline conditions (ATGSE), characterized by a higher content of oligomeric PACs, in an animal model of BPH induced by subcutaneous injection of testosterone (1 mg/mouse).

Background: Reports indicate that depression is a common mental health issue following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Our prior research suggests that Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3)-related neuroinflammation, modulated by glial cells such as astrocytes, is likely to play a crucial role in the progression of anxiety and cognitive dysfunction. However, there is limited understanding of the potential of astrocytic NLRP3 in treating depression under mild TBI condition.

Objective: Hypertension significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality. Nuclear receptor subfamily 4 group a member 1 (Nur77) participates in regulating oxidative stress, but the mechanism in hypertension remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the function of Nur77 in oxidative stress induced by Angiotensin II (Ang II) in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) in hypertension.

Dental caries with invasion and infection by microorganisms may induce pulpitis and intolerable pain. L-Ala-γ-D-Glu-mDAP (TriDAP) is a DAP-comprising muramyl tripeptide and a peptidoglycan degradation product found in gram-negative pulpal pathogens. TriDAP activates nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain1/2 (NOD1/NOD2) and induces tissue inflammatory responses.
