Background: The bidirectional relationship between epilepsy and sleep is well characterized in humans but has not been thoroughly explored in dogs.

Objective: Evaluate sleep differences between dogs with idiopathic epilepsy and healthy controls and determine associations among epilepsy characteristics, antiseizure medications (ASMs), and sleep.

Animals: Sixty-four dogs with idiopathic epilepsy and 64 non-epileptic control dogs matched by age, breed, and sex.

Objective: Cenobamate is an antiseizure medication (ASM) with a dual mechanism of action that was recently approved for the treatment of focal seizures in adults. This analysis aimed to describe the outcomes at 12 and 24 weeks after starting cenobamate therapy in a real-world setting.

Methods: BLESS [NCT05859854] is an ongoing, observational, retrospective and prospective cohort study to evaluate the real-world effectiveness and safety of adjunctive cenobamate in adults with uncontrolled focal epilepsy.

Introduction: Trigeminal Nerve Stimulation (TNS) is a technique that may be useful to reduce seizure burden in drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE), but its efficacy is not well characterized. This study sought to understand the application of TNS in DRE by providing a comprehensive overview of the current use and efficacy of TNS for neuromodulation in DRE.

Methods: A systematic review examining the use of TNS for DRE was conducted following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.

Due to the pleiotropic effects of ketogenic diet (KD) on pathophysiology, including inflammation and oxidative stress, medical personnels have been intensively exploring the application of it in the management of epilepsy. Meanwhile, the voltage-dependent anion channel 1 (VDAC1) is believed to be involved in regulating inflammatory and oxidative stress processes. However, the correlation between KD and VDAC1 in epilepsy has not been elucidated.
