The signaling and functions of the Endothelial Differentiation Gene (EDG) family of G protein-coupled receptors have been extensively elucidated. All the members of EDG family were shown to be receptors for lysosphingolipids or lysophospholipids. EDG-1, the prototype of EDG family receptors, is a high affinity receptor for serum-borne bioactive lipid, Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P). S1P, secreted by thrombotic platelets, has been shown to regulate a variety of cellular responses, including survival, cytoskeletal remodeling, chemotaxis etc, via the activation of cell surface EDG receptors. Recently, a novel function of S1P in modulating angiogenic response has been demonstrated. This review will focus on S1P/ EDG-1 signaling in endothelial activation, in particular in the S1P-mediated adherens junctions assembly and chemotaxis in endothelial cells.

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) are bioactive lysophospholipids derived from cell membranes that activate the endothelial differentiation gene family of G protein-coupled receptors. Activation of these receptors triggers multiple downstream signaling cascades through G proteins such as Gi/o, Gq/11, and G12/13. Therefore, LPA and S1P mediate several physiological processes, including cytoskeletal dynamics, neurite retraction, cell migration, cell proliferation, and intracellular ion fluxes.

This review article discusses the emerging amino-terephthalonitrile (Am-TN) and amino terephthalate-based single benzene fluorophores (SBFs) for their highly emissive nature and potential for numerous technical applications. Am-TN-SBFs are a new class of SBFs having amine as the electron donating (EDG) and dinitrile as the electron withdrawing group (EWG). The beauty of these Am-TN-SBFs lies in excellent intramolecular charge transfer between the EDG and EWG.

Background: With the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic (COVID-19), data on central and peripheral nervous system involvement, including those causing cranial nerve 6 (CN6) palsy, have been limited to case reports. To extract clinically relevant features of COVID-19-related CN6 palsy, we report on a recurrent pediatric case and analysis of reported cases associated with infection or immunization.
Methods: A PubMed search revealed 18 cases of isolated CN6 palsy in addition to the index case (n = 19).

Introduction: Despite its impact on a patient's life, there is a paucity of evidence on the humanistic burden of invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) due to serogroup B (MenB) in Spain. This study estimates the total quality-adjusted life-year (QALY) loss due to MenB-IMD in Spain from a societal perspective.
Materials And Methods: A previously published incidence-based Excel tool adapted to the Spanish setting was used to estimate total QALY losses over a patient's lifetime horizon, including direct and indirect impact on patients and families/caregivers, respectively.
