Isotransplants of murine fibrosarcoma (KHT) cells were inoculated i.m. into the hind limbs of 6-8 week-old female C3H/HeJ mice. Intratumoral injection of FGF1 or VEGF proteins decreased hypoxic marker uptake in murine fibrosarcoma KHT. Reduction of tumor hypoxia did not correlate with mRNA expression of transcription factors in tumors. Likewise, there was no significant alteration in either apoptotic frequency or the mRNA levels of 10 apoptotic-related molecules in FGF1- or VEGF-treated tumors. mRNA expression for MCP-1, IL-1 beta, IL-18, and IL-1Ra, however, were decreased in the tumors following FGF1 or VEGF treatment. Among the normal tissues tested (brain, kidney, liver, spleen, and lung), basal mRNA levels for cytokines and chemokines varied. Intratumoral injection of FGF1 or VEGF (6 daily intra-tumor injections of 6 micrograms/mouse) did not alter most cytokine or chemokine mRNA expression in spleen and lung. In summary, alteration of tumor oxygenation by local administration of angiogenic growth factors may be mediated by cytokine/chemokine production in the tumor.

Limb lengthening and deformity correction techniques, particularly distraction osteogenesis, have significantly evolved in pediatric orthopedics. This study examines the temporal changes of key biochemical markers-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF-1), and the propeptide of type I collagen (P1NP)-during the limb lengthening process. Twenty pediatric patients (aged 13-16) underwent distraction osteogenesis using the Circular Hexapod External Fixator.

Background: This split-mouth, double-masked, randomized clinical trial aimed at evaluating the impact of different macro geometries and nano topographical modifications on peri-implant bone repair in smokers.
Methods: Thirty-two patients who smoked at least ten cigarettes/day, with the need of a single maxillary or mandibular implant bilaterally, received two implants randomly assigned to DA - Dual Acid-Etched implants (n = 32); HCAN - healing chambers and activated nano surface (n = 32). Implant stability quotient (ISQ) was evaluated 07, 30, 60, 90, and 120 days after implant placement.

Objective: This study aims to explore the influence of combining autologous platelet-rich gel (APG) with continuous vacuum-sealed drainage (CVSD) and the exogenous recombinant human acidic fibroblast growth factor (rh-aFGF) on the healing processes of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). The primary objective is to elucidate the complex molecular mechanisms associated with DFU, providing innovative perspectives for its treatment.
Methods: Ninety patients diagnosed with DFU were randomly allocated into three distinct groups.
Lipase maturation factor 1 is an endoplasmic reticulum-resident transmembrane protein, which acts as a critical chaperone necessary for the folding, dimerisation, and secretion of lipases. In this review, we summarise data about the recently revealed role of lipase maturation factor 1 in endoplasmic reticulum redox homeostasis, its novel interaction partners among oxidoreductases and lectin chaperones, and the identification of fibronectin and the low-density lipoprotein receptor as novel non-lipase client proteins of lipase maturation factor 1. Additionally, the role of lipase maturation factor 1-derived circular RNA in atherosclerosis progression via the miR-125a-3p/vascular endothelial growth factor A\Fibroblast Growth Factor 1 axis is discussed.
