This commentary adds elements of analysis from the new evolutionary sociology that might help to support the mythologic hypothesis. It discusses the likelihood of a more generalized processer rather than exactly evolved psychological mechanisms, the consequences of bottlenecks, and the importance of utilizing molecular, fossil, and primate data in the authors' research program.

Most modern dietary guidelines recommend limiting lard and animal fats due to their potential link to metabolic diseases. Nevertheless, emerging evidence suggests that lard may not significantly contribute to diabetes and that moderate lard intake could even benefit lipid metabolism. This commentary suggests a reevaluation of lard’s classification as a “bad actor” in the context of diabetes, urging colleagues to give greater consideration to and empirically validate this intriguing hypothesis.

The study by Ubels and van Raaij highlights the importance of alignment in hospital-physician relationships and the challenges in understanding, measuring, and managing it. Despite extensive research on alignment, drawing precise conclusions about its nature, drivers, and outcomes is difficult due to construct clarity and construct validity issues. This commentary focuses on clarifying these issues and the problems they create for hospitals attempting to manage alignment, as well as for scientific inquiry in this area.
