Biologic Downstaging Observed With a Pulmonary Collision Tumor.

Ann Thorac Surg Short Rep

September 2023

Department of Surgery, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California.

Collision tumors are a rare entity in which 2 distinct neoplastic cellular populations invade each other and coalesce to form a single focal lesion. This case report describes a pulmonary collision tumor emerging from the rapid progression of 2 large-cell carcinoma lesions of the lung, including 1 nodule with clear cell features and another with basaloid features. The collision of these 2 histologically rare nodules resulted in the biologic downstaging of disease.

Background: Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) has shown to be a promising agent for prostate cancer imaging under PET-CT. With the automation in radiolabeling with 68Ga, using iTG 68Ge/68Ga generator, it has helped introduce various new diagnostic agents and achieve good manufacturing practices (GMP) simultaneously. However, before any radiopharmaceutical is put into clinical usage, it should always be checked for its radiochemical purity and other quality parameters before injecting in the patient.

We report 3 cases of extremely rare familial idiopathic diffuse pulmonary ossification, 2 of 3 received lung transplantation and the other is listed for lung transplantation. The clinical courses of family members varied greatly, and rapid deterioration could occur; therefore, early and close examination is recommended for transplant registration. During transplantation, the lungs appeared and felt exactly like a "pumice stone" and could not collapse, and good visual field was not easily obtained.

Highly Selective AIEgen-Based "Turn On" Fluorescent Imaging for Inflammation Detection.

Luminescence

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan, China.

Hypochlorous acid (HClO) is released by immune cells in the immune system, and it helps the body fight off infections and inflammation by killing bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. However, tissue damage or apoptosis may also be induced by excess HClO. On this basis, we designed the probe TPE-NS by choosing tetraphenylethylene (TPE) as the luminescent unit and dimethylthiocarbamoyl chloride as the recognition site.
