[Different varieties and anatomopathological description of primary tumors of the liver].

Published: September 1992

The different types of primary hepatic tumors are examined, focusing on their macroscopic and histologic features. A large variety of neoplasms can be observed, derived from the different components of the liver. Benign (adenoma, focal nodular hyperplasia) or malignant (hepatocellular carcinoma) epithelial tumors of hepatocellular origin are very common. Hemangioma is the most common mesenchymatous-derived tumor. However, the frequency of each type of tumor varies considerably in the different age and sex groups. Some special entities recently reported, such as epithelioid hemangioendothelioma or fibrolamellar carcinoma are detailed.

The composition conversion in block copolymer induced by external stimuli such as light and pH is an effective strategy to trigger the disassembly of vesicles experimentally. Based on this strategy, the disassembly behavior of the ABA triblock copolymer vesicle induced by the composition conversion from B block to C block was studied using Monte Carlo simulation. In this study, a part of the B block in the ABA triblock copolymer was converted to the new block C with weaker hydrophobicity, forming the ABCA tetrablock copolymer.

Background: Precision nutrition-based methods develop tailored interventions and/or recommendations accounting for determinants of intra- and inter-individual variation in response to the same diet, compared to current 'one-size-fits-all' population-level approaches. Determinants may include genetics, current dietary habits and eating patterns, circadian rhythms, health status, gut microbiome, socioeconomic and psychosocial characteristics, and physical activity. In this systematic review, we examined the evidence base for the effect of interventions based on precision nutrition approaches on overweight and obesity in children and adolescents to help inform future research and global guidelines.

Rewards are rewarding owing to their hedonic or metabolic value. Individual differences in sensitivity to rewards are predictive of mental health problems but may reflect variation in metabolic types. We have assessed the association of two distinguishable aspects of reward sensitivity, openness to rewards (the striving towards multiple rewards) and insatiability by reward (the strong pursuit and fixation to a particular reward), with measures of metabolism and activity in a longitudinal study of representative birth cohort samples.

Aberrant protein misfolding and accumulation is considered to be a major pathological pillar of neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Aggregation of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptide leads to the formation of toxic amyloid fibrils and is associated with cognitive dysfunction and memory loss in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Designing molecules that inhibit amyloid aggregation seems to be a rational approach to AD drug development.
