Immediate replacement of single upper posterior teeth: a report of cases.

Clin Implant Dent Relat Res

Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Monterrey, México.

Published: December 2003

Background: The immediate replacement of upper molar teeth with implants poses a significant challenge to the clinician because of its sinus involvement.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to report a protocol in which single molar teeth are replaced immediately with implants, minimizing the need for other surgical procedures.

Materials And Methods: This protocol has been employed in eight cases. Briefly, the teeth are extracted atraumatically, the sockets evaluated, an osteotomy performed following the direction of the socket, and a wide diameter implant placed using the socket walls and sinus floor to anchor it. A grafting material is placed when the space between implant and socket wall is considerably large. Three cases are reviewed here, and all eight are summarized.

Results: All cases have excellent soft and hard tissue healing after 6 months. Furthermore, the overall time needed to restore the cases has been considerably reduced and the need for sinus management eliminated.

Conclusion: The cases presented support the use of the described protocol in the placement of implants in maxillary molar areas without any other sinus procedures.

The Effect of Polyethylene Fiber and Flowable Resin Composite on Fracture Resistance in the Restoration of Large MOD Cavities.

J Esthet Restor Dent

January 2025

Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Kırıkkale University, Kırıkkale, Türkiye.

Objective: This in vitro study aims to evaluate the effect of placing polyethylene fibers used in large Class II MOD (mesio-occlusion-distal) cavities into different flowable resin composites and in different positions on the fracture resistance of the restoration.

Materials And Methods: Ninety healthy human molars were used in the study. No treatment was performed on 10 of these teeth and they were used as the control group.

Background: This study assessed stress distributions in simulated mandibular molars filled with various materials after the removal of fractured instruments from the apical thirds of the root canals.

Methods: Finite element models of the mesial and distal root canals were created, where fractured instruments were assumed to be removed using a staging platform established with a modified Gates-Glidden bur (Woodpecker, Guangxi, P.R.

Mice have evolved a new dental plan with two additional cusps on the upper molar, while hamsters were retaining the ancestral plan. By comparing the dynamics of molar development with transcriptome time series, we found at least three early changes in mouse upper molar development. Together, they redirect spatio-temporal dynamics to ultimately form two additional cusps.

Effect of Application Mode and Aging on Microtensile Bond Strength of Universal Adhesives to Enamel of Primary Teeth.

Int J Paediatr Dent

January 2025

Department of Paediatric Dentistry, Medical Centre for Dentistry, University Medical Centre Giessen and Marburg GmbH (Campus Giessen), Justus-Liebig-University, Giessen, Germany.

Background: Limited reports are available regarding bonding of universal adhesives to primary teeth' enamel.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of application mode and aging on microtensile bond strength (μTBS) of universal adhesives to primary enamel.

Design: Ninety-six human primary molars were randomly assigned to three groups: SU: Scotchbond Universal (3M); CU: Clearfil Universal Bond Quick (Kuraray Noritake); iBU: iBond Universal (Heraeus Kulzer), then subdivided according to phosphoric acid etching time into three subgroups (SG): SG1: 0s; SG2: 15s; SG3: 30s.

Aim: This prospective clinical study aimed to clinically investigate the efficiency of (GIC) glass-ionomer cement application (Ionostar Plus + Easy Glaze, VOCO) in reducing hypersensitivity in permanent molars affected by molar incisor hypomineralisation when assessed immediately (15 min) and 12 weeks after its application.

Materials And Methods: Children with at least one hypersensitive MIH-affected permanent molar (MIH-TNI-3 or 4). The pre-treatment status was evaluated and only included if they did not receive a tooth-specific in-office desensitizing treatment within one month.
