This review highlights the psychiatric, psychosocial, and substance use treatment issues relevant to the care of patients with triple diagnosis. A discussion of the various psychosocial and psychopharmacologic strategies stresses the importance of integrating medical, psychiatric, and substance use interventions. Components of integrated treatment include a collaborative relationship with various medical services involved in the patient's care, psychotherapeutic interventions tailored to the patient's readiness for change and incorporating motivational strategies, special attention to psychosocial needs, strong emphasis on psychoeducation, and psychopharmacologic management. More research is warranted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic modalities in patients with triple diagnosis.

Spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas (SDAVFs) are the most common type of spinal vascular malformations. Multiple SDAVFs are unusual and can occur either synchronously or metachronously, as reported in the literature. We report on the unusual case of a woman with three separate SDAVFs, which were surgically treated within the same setting; the postoperative course was characterised by unexplained repeated haematoma formation within the surgical sites.

Objectives: The US Preventive Services Task Force recommends screening of adults aged 35-70 with a body mass index ≥25 kg/m for type 2 diabetes and referral of individuals who screen positive for pre-diabetes to evidence-based prevention strategies. The diabetes burden in the USA is predicted to triple by 2060 necessitating strategic diabetes prevention efforts, particularly in areas of highest need. This study aimed to identify pre-diabetes hotspots using geospatial mapping to inform targeted diabetes prevention strategies.

Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) are the end result of the irreversible, non-enzymatic glycation of proteins by reducing sugars. These chemical modifications accumulate with age and have been associated with various age-related and diabetic complications. AGEs predominantly accumulate on proteins with slow turnover rates, of which collagen is a prime example.
