Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbs are commonly regarded to be safe with minimal toxicities in Chinese communities. Cancer patients who are receiving Western oncology therapy often concurrently take TCM herbs for anticancer and symptom relief purposes. We performed a literature review for current evidence on TCM herb-induced liver injury from an oncological perspective.

Objective: To elucidate how ethanol extract of L. serratum (ELS) could exert anti-migratory effects on glioma with the suppression of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) downstream pathway.
Methods: Cell viability of ELS on C6 glioma was detected by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay.

Background: The purpose of this review was to create an online research summary table of heart toxicity case reports related to dietary supplements (DS; includes herbs).
Methods: Documented PubMed case reports of DS appearing to contribute to heart-related problems were used to create a "Toxic Table" that summarized the research (1966 to April, 2016, and cross-referencing). Keywords included "herb," "dietary supplement," and cardiac terms.

Three new Lycopodium alkaloids, serralongamines B-D (1-3), have been isolated from the club moss Lycopodium serratum var. longipetiolatum, and the structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data and chemical transformation. 1 and 3 significantly exhibited the inhibitory activity against foam cell formation in human macrophages, one of characteristic features of early atherosclerotic lesions.
