A structured kinetic model was established to describe the process of Taxol formation in suspension cultures of Taxus chinesis var. mairei induced by an oligosaccharide from Fusarium oxysporum. In this model, the role of intracellular starch as a storage carbon source had to be taken into account. Substrate uptake, culture growth, cell respiration, and secondary metabolites, predicted by the model, agreed with those obtained experimentally. The effective factors of oligosaccharide elicitation, eta(e,j), defined as the ratio of the parameter values in the system with oligosaccharide to those in control, reflected the effects of the oligosaccharide on cell growth and Taxol production.

A full-scale structural search was performed using density functional theory calculations and a universal structural prediction evolutionary algorithm. This produced a lowest energy two-dimensional (2D) CoB structure. The CoB-1 global minimum structure has unusual inverse double sandwich features.

The production, conversion and storage of energy based on electrocatalysis, mainly assisted by oxygen evolution reaction (OER), plays a crucial role in alkaline water electrolyzers (AWEs) and fuel cells. Nevertheless, the insufficient availability of highly efficient catalyst materials at a reasonable cost that overcome the sluggish electrochemical kinetics of the OER is one of the significant obstacles. Herein, we report a fast and facile synthesis of vapor phase deposition of dual-phase nickel sulfide (Ni-sulfide) using low-temperature annealing in the presence of HS and demonstrated as an efficient catalyst for OER to address the issues with sluggish electrochemical kinetics.

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs), which resemble hydrotalcite, are a type of materials with cationic layers and exchangeable interlayer anions. They have drawn lots of curiosity as a high-temperature CO2 adsorbent because of its quick desorption/sorption kinetics and renewability. Due to its extensive divalent or trivalent cationic metals, high anion exchange property, memory effect, adjustable behavior, bio-friendliness, easy to prepare and relatively low cost, the LDHs-based materials are becoming increasingly popular for photocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR).

Background: Human cytochrome P450 1B1 (CYP1B1) is an extrahepatic enzyme that is overexpressed in many tumors and is associated with tumor development and acquired resistance. Few studies have reported that anthraquinone compounds have inhibitory activity against the CYP1B1 enzyme. Cassiae semen (Leguminosae) is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine containing more than 70 compounds.

MINFLUX nanoscopy relies on the localization of single fluorophores with expected ~ 2 nm precision in 3D mapping, roughly one order of magnitude better than standard stimulated emission depletion microscopy or stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy. This "brilliant" technique takes advantage of specialized localization principles and algorithms that require only dim fluorescence signals with a minimum flux of photons; hence the name follows. With this level of performance, MINFLUX imaging and tracking should allow for the routine study of biological processes down to the molecular scale, revealing previously unresolved details in cell structures, such as the organization of calcium channels in muscle cells or the clustering of receptors in synapses.
