[Effect of diet on alveolar bone loss in female ovariectomized rats of different age].

Published: December 2003

In experiments on female rats of different age after ovariectomy we have determined that mineral compound complexes "Vita" No. 1 (300 mg/kg) and "Vita" No. 2 (300 mg/kg) with an increased content of calcium (20 mg/kg) were important to be included into a balanced diet of ovariectomyzed rats of different age to prevent resorption of alveolar bone. Usual diet balanced on calcium (up to 70 mg/kg) was not enough to prevent resorption of that bone. In female rats of reproductive age it became possible only after using an additional compulsory diet, enriched with calcium (20 mg/kg) (complex "Vita" No. 2). In rats of climacteric age after ovariectomy an addition of 'Vita N 1' was enough to get good results.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is a powerful antineoplastic FDA-approved anthracycline-derived antibiotic and is considered as the most suitable intervention for solid tumors and hematological cancers therapy. However, its therapeutic application is highly limited due to acute and chronic renal, hematological and testicular toxicity. Oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation and apoptosis in germ cells as well as low sperm count, motility and disturbing steroidogenesis are the principal machineries of DOX-induced testicular toxicity.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to improve the economic value of the processed by-products of farmed miiuy croaker () by evaluating the nutrient composition and osteogenic activity of its bones. We prepared bone peptides (MMBP) and analyzed their osteogenic potential.

Methods: We assessed the osteogenic activity of MMBP by molecular docking, MC3T3-E1 cell proliferation assay and zebrafish growth model, and evaluated its effect on osteoporosis (OP) using a retinoic acid-induced osteoporosis rat model.

The scarcity of effective neuroprotective agents and the presence of blood-brain barrier (BBB)-mediated extremely inefficient intracerebral drug delivery are predominant obstacles to the treatment of cerebral ischemic stroke (CIS). Herein, ROS-responsive borneol-based amphiphilic polymeric NPs are constructed by using traditional Chinese medicine borneol as functional blocks that served as surface brain-targeting ligand, inner hydrophobic core for efficient drug loading of membrane-permeable calcium chelator BAPTA-AM, and neuroprotective structural component. In MCAO mice, the nanoformulation (polymer: 3.
