Managing strategies of chemotherapy and radiotherapy-induced oral mucositis.

Cancer Treat Rev

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases, National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Research Unit of Oral Carcinogenesis and Management, West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan 610041, China. Electronic address:

Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are widely employed as primary non-surgical cancer treatments; however, their non-selective cytotoxicity often leads to adverse events such as oral mucositis (OM), particularly in head and neck cancer therapies. International guidelines provide recommendations for managing chemoradiotherapy-induced OM in various clinical contexts. Subsequently, emerging researches have introduced evidence supporting novel approaches or existing regimens for OM prevention and treatment.

Cadmium translocation combined with metabolomics analysis revealed potential mechanisms of MT@MSN-CS and GSH@MSN-CS in reducing cadmium accumulation in rice (Oryza sativa L.) grains.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Water Pollution Control and Environmental Safety of Zhejiang Province, Department of Environmental Engineering, Zhejiang University, Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou, 310058, P.R. China.

Applying nano-delivery systems for phytohormones via foliar application has proven effective in reducing grain cadmium (Cd) levels in crops. However, the mechanisms underlying this reduction remain inadequately understood. This study integrated the determination of leaf photosynthetic parameters, Cd translocation analysis, and metabolomics to elucidate the effects of reduced glutathione (GSH) and melatonin (MT), delivered with or without chitosan-encapsulated mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN-CS), on grain Cd levels in rice.

The Role of the Chronotype in Developing an Excessive Body Weight and Its Complications-A Narrative Review.

Nutrients

December 2024

Department of Treatment of Obesity, Metabolic Disorders and Clinical Dietetics, Poznań University of Medical Sciences, 49 Przybyszewskiego Street, 60-355 Poznan, Poland.

The chronotype, the personal predisposition towards morning or evening activities, significantly influences health conditions, sleep, and eating regulations. Individuals with evening chronotypes are often at a higher risk for weight gain due to misalignment between their natural tendencies of functioning and social schedules, resulting in insufficient sleep, disruptions in eating habits, and decreased physical activity levels. Often, impaired glucose tolerance and changes in melatonin, adiponectin, and leptin secretion, along with alterations in the clock gene functions in subjects with evening preferences, may be predisposed to obesity.

Background And Objectives: Nutrient supplements are commonly used to improve fertility outcomes by women with infertility trying to conceive spontaneously or utilising medically assisted reproduction (MAR). However, despite their widespread use and perceived safety, there is a lack of clear guidance on the efficacy and safety of these supplements for female infertility. The aim of this umbrella review was to identify the best available and most recent evidence on the efficacy and safety of nutrient supplements for female infertility to provide evidence-based guidance for clinicians and reproductive couples.
