Identification and characterization of spontaneous AA amyloidosis in CD-1 mice used in toxicity studies: implications of SAA1 and SAA2 copy number variations.

J Toxicol Pathol

January 2025

Laboratory of Veterinary Pathology, School of Veterinary Medicine, Azabu University, 1-17-71 Fuchinobe, Chuo-ku, Sagamihara-shi, Kanagawa 252-5201, Japan.

Amyloidosis is characterized by the extracellular deposition of insoluble protein fibrils that cause cellular damage and dysfunction in organs and tissues. Multiple types of amyloidosis and their causative precursor proteins have been identified in humans and animals. In toxicological studies, a high incidence of spontaneous amyloidosis has been reported in CD-1 mice; however, the precursor protein responsible remains unclear.

Humanized dual-targeting antibody-drug conjugates specific to MET and RON receptors as a pharmaceutical strategy for the treatment of cancers exhibiting phenotypic heterogeneity.

Acta Pharmacol Sin

January 2025

State Key Laboratory for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, National Clinical Research Center for Infectious diseases, First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, 310003, China.

Cancer heterogeneity, characterized by diverse populations of tumorigenic cells, involves the occurrence of differential phenotypes with variable expressions of receptor tyrosine kinases. Aberrant expressions of mesenchymal-epithelial transition (MET) and recepteur d'origine nantais (RON) receptors contribute to the phenotypic heterogeneity of cancer cells, which poses a major therapeutic challenge. This study aims to develop a dual-targeting antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) that can act against both MET and RON for treating cancers with high phenotypic heterogeneity.

The use of effect-based methods in water monitoring for identifying risks to aquatic organisms and human health is important for aiding regulatory decisions. In the past decades, the database on monitoring, especially in surface waters, has grown as this aquatic environment is openly exposed to various contamination sources. With regard to endocrine disruption, estrogenic and androgenic effects have been primarily investigated.

The concentration and purification of trace substances from natural products represent a bottleneck in current chromatographic separations. In this study, a twin-column recycling chromatography with a step solvent gradient method was proposed and successfully applied in the purification of unknown substances with tiny content in yew extracum. The method consists of two steps.
