Magnesium (Mg) is a mineral necessary for many biological activities in mammals. Here, we compared the effect of two Mg compounds [Mg picolinate (MgPic) to Mg oxide (MgO)] on Mg bioavailability and intestinal Mg and calcium transporter protein levels. Three groups of 21 male Wistar-Albino rats were randomly allocated and fed a standard diet (control) or a 500 mg/kg Mg-supplemented (MgPic or MgO) diet for 8 weeks.

The search for alternative material sources to conventional ones has had a significant impact on the construction sector today, driven by the implementation of sustainable development policies on a global scale. Alternative cementitious materials, such as agricultural industry by-products, have been introduced to ensure the efficient use of renewable natural resources while promoting a balance between the technical and economic aspects of infrastructure projects. This article provides an overview of research conducted on the use of pozzolans derived from agro-industrial by-products, such as rice husk ash (RHA), palm oil fuel ash (POFA), and sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA), which have a high content of amorphous silica.

This report describes cardiovascular and renal soft tissue mineralization and renal intratubular crystals in 13 out of 16 guinea pigs that were given very hard drinking water for 9 months. These animals, aged 14 to 20 months, were experimentally naïve. No clinical symptoms were observed, but 1 guinea pig was found dead in its cage.
