Influenza vaccine effectiveness and immunogenicity can be compromised with repeated vaccination. We assessed immunological markers in a cohort of healthcare workers (HCW) from six public hospitals around Australia during 2020-2021. Sera were collected pre-vaccination and ~14 and ~180 days post-vaccination and assessed in haemagglutination inhibition assay against egg-grown vaccine and equivalent cell-grown viruses.

Aims: Cross-correlation baroreflex sensitivity (xBRS) and heart rate variability (HRV) are measures of autonomic cardiac control and are associated with hypertension. However, their value in predicting new-onset hypertension and changes in systolic blood pressure (SBP) remains elusive.
Methods: We used longitudinal data of participants with- and without a history of cardiovascular disease from the HEalthy Life In an Urban Setting (HELIUS) study.

Cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) causes impaired blood flow in both epicardial vessels and microvasculature and remains a leading cause of posttransplant morbidity and mortality. This study examined the prognostic value and outcomes of CAV, assessed by N-ammonia PET/CT myocardial perfusion imaging in heart transplant recipients. PET/CT and invasive coronary angiography (ICA) were graded using validated scales.

Bariatric surgery may have an effect on myocardial mechanics in individuals with obesity and diabetes. In this study, two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography was applied to evaluate the changes of left ventricular myocardial mechanics in individuals with obesity and diabetes before and after bariatric surgery. A total of 58 individuals with obesity were divided into an obesity-only group (30 patients) and an obesity + diabetes group (28 patients).
