Long-term retention of the pedicled thymic flap after bronchial stump coverage.

This study aimed to assess the feasibility and retention rates of pedicled thymic flaps to enhance understanding of bronchial stump coverage. A retrospective analysis of 22 consecutive patients who underwent anatomical lung resection followed by bronchial stump coverage with pedicled thymic flaps between January 2017 and December 2022 was conducted. The procedure was performed using a minimally invasive 3-port video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery technique for all patients with no complications related to graft harvest or fixation.

Germ cell tumours are usually found in the gonads, while the most common extragonadal site is the anterior mediastinum. When these tumours involve the tracheobronchial tree, patients present with trichoptysis or coughing up of hair. We present a rare case of a woman who presented with trichoptysis and was evaluated and diagnosed with benign mature teratoma of the anterior mediastinum with bronchopulmonary involvement.

Several exploratory studies have demonstrated the feasibility of cholecystokinin-2 receptor (CCK2R) targeting in patients with medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) and other neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Pulmonary hypertension (PH) increases the mortality of preterm infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). There are no curative therapies for this disease. Lung endothelial carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1a (Cpt1a), the rate-limiting enzyme of the carnitine shuttle system, is reduced in a rodent model of BPD.

Neuroendocrine tumors are a diverse group of tumors predominantly found in the gastrointestinal tract or respiratory system. : This retrospective study aimed to measure the serum concentrations of LRP6 (low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6), SFRP3 (secreted frizzled-related protein 3), and DVL1 (segment polarity protein dishevelled homolog) using the ELISA method in patients with NETs (N = 80) and a control group (N = 62). We evaluated the results against various demographic, clinicopathological, and biochemical characteristics.
