Corrinoids are cobalt-containing tetrapyrroles. They include adenosylcobalamin (vitamin B) and cobamides that function as cofactors and coenzymes for methyl transfer, radical-dependent and redox reactions. Though cobamides are the most complex cofactors in nature, they are essential in the acetyl-CoA pathway, thought to be the most ancient CO-fixation pathway, where they perform a pterin-to-cobalt-to-nickel methyl transfer reaction catalyzed by the corrinoid iron-sulphur protein (CoFeS).

Deuterium isotope effects on interaction energies and geometrical parameters in several HO(DO)ene and HO+(DO)yne complexes, which involve O-H(D)π interactions, have been analyzed using the MP2 level of the multi-component molecular orbital method (MC_MP2), which can incorporate the nuclear quantum effects of light nuclei, such as protons and deuterons. The MC_MP2 calculations revealed that DO replacement reduced the interaction energies of the complexes and induced changes in geometrical parameters. In addition, natural energy decomposition analysis (NEDA) revealed a strong correlation between the H/D isotope effects on the H/Dπ distances and on each energy component.

The transition to a circular economy requires new materials and products with new production designs, technologies, and processes. In order to create new materials with physico-chemical qualities suitable for application in the building materials engineering sector, stone dust and polymer waste-two environmentally hazardous industrial wastes-were combined in this study. The materials obtained were evaluated based on an analysis performed using the Micro-Deval test.

Purpose: With the growing interest in exploring radiolanthanides for nuclear medicine applications, the question arises as to whether they are generally interchangeable without affecting a biomolecule's pharmacokinetic properties. The goal of this study was to investigate similarities and differences of four (radio)lanthanides simultaneously applied as complexes of biomolecules or in ionic form.

Methods: Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was employed for the simultaneous detection of four lanthanides (Ln = lutetium, terbium, gadolinium and europium) in biological samples.

The construction, use, and maintenance of tritium-related equipment will inevitably produce tritium-containing radioactive waste gas, and the production of efficient catalysts for tritium removal remains a difficult problem. Herein, silicalite-1 zeolite with entrapped Pt nanoclusters is skillfully post-oxidized at an appropriate temperature, building highly active Pt─O sites on the nanoclusters to achieve efficient oxidation of hydrogen isotopes at low temperatures. The designed Pt─O sites can directly participate in the oxidation reaction of hydrogen isotopes.
