Background: This prospective study compared the application of a 3D exoscope (VITOM 3D) with surgical microscopes (SM) in ear surgery.
Methods: 62 patients were included (exoscope group (E+) n = 31; SM group (E-) n = 31). Procedures included cochlea implantation (nE + = 10, nE- = 10), reconstructive middle ear surgery due to chronic otitis media with (COMwC; nE + = 11, nE- = 11) and without cholesteatoma (COMsC; nE + = 10, nE- = 10).

Soil organic carbon is critical to reducing anthropogenic CO emissions, highlighting the importance of carbon sequestration on agricultural lands. No-till agricultural practices have been shown to be effective in improving soil quality and sequestering carbon, thereby supporting global efforts to mitigate climate change. Based on the edaphoclimatic conditions of the region, five reference areas were selected, with different characteristics in terms of conditions (A1, A2, A3, A4, and A5) in 5 different farms in the municipality of Rio Verde, GO, Brazil.

Insomnia disorder is a subjective complaint of sleep dissatisfaction including both night-time and daytime symptoms. Currently there are three commonly used diagnostic manuals each with their own set of criteria, which is often credited for the wide range in insomnia prevalence reported by population-based studies, especially those with self-reported insomnia. However, there are limited studies directly comparing different criteria and little is known about associations with health outcomes.

Halal and kosher slaughter have given the utmost importance to the sharpness of knives during the slaughter of animals. A sharp knife of appropriate dimension (blade length) makes slaughter less painful during neck severance and facilitates desirable bleeding. The role of knife sharpness has not been given due credit from an animal welfare perspective and is likely ignored by the people involved in slaughterhouses.
