Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are a pivotal component of the tumor microenvironment (TME), playing key roles in tumor initiation, metastasis, and chemoresistance. While glycosylation is known to regulate various cellular processes, its impact on CAFs activation remains insufficiently explored.
Methods: We assessed the correlation between bisecting GlcNAc levels and CAFs markers (α-SMA, PDGFRA, PDGFRB) in breast cancer tissues.

The motility of sperm decreases following cryopreservation, which is closely associated with mitochondrial function. However, the alterations in mitochondrial metabolism after sperm freezing in goats remain unclear. This experiment aimed to investigate the impact of ultra-low temperature freezing on goat sperm's mitochondrial energy metabolism and its potential correlation with sperm motility.

Enhancing protein O-GlcNAcylation by pharmacological inhibition of the enzyme O-GlcNAcase (OGA) has been considered as a strategy to decrease tau and amyloid-beta phosphorylation, aggregation, and pathology in Alzheimer's disease (AD). There is still more to be learned about the impact of enhancing global protein O-GlcNAcylation, which is important for understanding the potential of using OGA inhibition to treat neurodegenerative diseases. In this study, we investigated the acute effect of pharmacologically increasing O-GlcNAc levels, using the OGA inhibitor Thiamet G (TG), in normal mouse brains.

Although glucosamine (GlcN) exhibits antitumor effects, its mechanism of action remains controversial. Additionally, its impact on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is not well understood. This study aimed to investigate the antitumor effects of GlcN and its underlying mechanism in a mouse HCC cell line, Hepa1-6.

Despite major efforts toward its eradication, cholera remains a major health threat and economic burden in many low- and middle-income countries. Between outbreaks, the bacterium responsible for the disease, , survives in aquatic environmental reservoirs, where it commonly forms biofilms, for example, on zooplankton. -acetyl glucosamine-binding protein A (GbpA) is an adhesin that binds to the chitinaceous surface of zooplankton and breaks its dense crystalline packing thanks to its lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase (LPMO) activity, which provides with nutrients.
