The contributions of academic drug discovery are well characterised in the US context but less well understood elsewhere. This paper provides a UK perspective, focusing on the activities of Drug Discovery Units (DDUs). These units have established themselves as coordinators of translational research, working at the early stages of the drug pipeline to link up the academic and industry capabilities needed to take drug candidates towards the market.

Introduction: An ageing population and a workforce crisis have triggered an ambitious UK strategy for sustained delivery of healthcare. In perioperative care (the management of patients from contemplation of surgery until full recovery), it is recognised that interventions are needed to place the workforce on a more sustainable footing through cross-functionality and skill-shifting, namely with advanced practice roles. However, despite some reports and reviews in the literature, it is unclear how skills development efforts may potentially support workforce transformation for an effective and resilient perioperative care workforce.

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents unprecedented opportunities for participatory environmental management. This paper explores the integration of AI technologies into participatory approaches, which engage diverse stakeholders in environmental decision-making processes. This perspective highlights the transformative potential of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) in environmental and healthcare sectors. It discusses work that has advanced beyond technology readiness levels of >4 including applications in capture, storage, and conversion of gases to value added products. This work showcases efforts in the most salient applications of MOFs which have been performed at a great cadence, enabled by the federal government, large companies, and startups to commercialize these technologies despite facing significant challenges.

United Nations is standing for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 sets the agenda to address worldwide inequality in accessing safe water and improved sanitation facilities for all by 2030. However, governments in Africa seem unable to address the issue water and of sanitation facilities, since there are problems like increasing costs of sustaining existing water sources and the requirement to deliver new facilities ahead of time. Hence, this study aimed to investigate unimproved water sources and sanitation facilities geographical variation in Ethiopia using EDHS 2019 datasets.
