High-Field-Blinded Assessment of Portable Ultra-Low-Field Brain MRI for Multiple Sclerosis.

J Neuroimaging

January 2025

Translational Neuroradiology Section, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, USA.

Background And Purpose: MRI is crucial for multiple sclerosis (MS), but the relative value of portable ultra-low field MRI (pULF-MRI), a technology that holds promise for extending access to MRI, is unknown. We assessed white matter lesion (WML) detection on pULF-MRI compared to high-field MRI (HF-MRI), focusing on blinded assessments, assessor self-training, and multiplanar acquisitions.

Methods: Fifty-five adults with MS underwent pULF-MRI following their HF-MRI.

Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is characterized by the presence of at least one cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factor, underscoring its potential to elevate CVD risk in affected individuals. However, evidence linking MASLD to subclinical coronary atherosclerosis remains scarce, and further investigations are necessary to elucidate the independent role of varying MASLD severities as a CVD risk factor.

Methods: This study analyzed 7,507 participants aged ≥ 40 who underwent comprehensive health evaluations at the Shanghai Health and Medical Center.

Purpose: Pre-procedural imaging is critical for transcatheter mitral valve repair planning in patients with mitral valve disease. As differences among various measurement techniques for valve evaluation are still poorly understood, we sought to assess the intra- and interobserver agreement of complex measurements derived from a prototype mitral evaluation tool (Siemens) and a commercially available tool (CVI42) using both saddle- and D-shaped mitral annulus techniques.

Materials And Methods: Multiphasic cardiac computed tomography angiography data were loaded into each software.

Patients with post-COVID condition (PCC) present with diverse symptoms which persist at long-term after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Among these symptoms, cognitive impairment is one of the most prevalent and has been related to brain structural and functional changes. The underlying mechanisms of these cognitive and brain alterations remain elusive but neuroinflammation and immune mechanisms have been majorly considered.

This study sought to establish and validate an interpretable CT radiomics-based machine learning model capable of predicting post-acute pancreatitis diabetes mellitus (PPDM-A), providing clinicians with an effective predictive tool to aid patient management in a timely fashion. Clinical and imaging data from 271 patients who had undergone enhanced CT scans after first-episode acute pancreatitis from March 2017-June 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were classified into PPDM-A (n = 109) and non-PPDM-A groups (n = 162), and split into training (n = 189) and testing (n = 82) cohorts at a 7:3 ratio.
