Objective: The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare publishes statistical indicator reports on the specialised mental health workforce. We provide a brief commentary on these reports, reflecting upon the implications of such changes for psychiatric practice and patient care.

Rationale: Ovarian tumor torsion is a critical gynecological emergency, predominantly affecting women of reproductive age, with benign teratomas being the most common culprits. In contrast, malignant ovarian tumors, such as mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, infrequently present with torsion due to their invasive and angiogenic characteristics. The occurrence of torsion in malignant tumors complicates diagnosis and management, particularly when associated with complications like congestion, infarction, and internal bleeding.

All patients with ACC that were reported between 2010 and 2015 were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. A forward-stepwise Cox proportional hazards regression was used to identify independent risk factors.
