Increased thrombotic events that occur in up to one-third of patients with COVID-19 are predominantly pulmonary emboli (PE), which are associated with higher severity and increased mortality. Acute PE should therefore be one of the main differential diagnoses among patients with hemodynamic instability. Early treatment of such a condition with systemic thrombolysis remains the first line of treatment especially in patients with COVID-19, which hinders further invasive intervention.

Thrombolytic efficacy and safety of recombinant scu-PA in a rabbit retinal vein occlusion model.

Tianjin Key Laboratory of Retinal Functions and Diseases, Tianjin Branch of National Clinical Research Center for Ocular Disease, Eye Institute and School of Optometry, Tianjin Medical University Eye Hospital. Electronic address:

Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) has become the second most common retinal vascular disease after diabetic retinopathy. Existing therapeutic approaches, including intravitreal injection of antivascular endothelial growth factors (anti-VEGFs) and/or glucocorticoids and laser therapy, primarily address secondary macular edema and neovascularisation. However, these strategies do not address the underlying cause of the disease and may have harmful side effects.

Objective: Fibrinolysis is generally considered an alternative to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) when PCI is not immediately feasible. The COVID-19 pandemic may have impacted the timeliness of PCI. We sought to compare the rate of fibrinolysis use before vs.

Irisin is a newly discovered 12 kDa messenger protein involved in energy metabolism. Irisin affects signaling pathways in several types of cancer; however, the role of irisin in metastatic melanoma (MM) has not been described yet. We explored the biological effects of irisin in in vitro models of MM cells (HBL, LND1, Hmel1 and M3) capable of the oncogenic activation of BRAF.

Plasmin, the final product of fibrinolysis, is a broad-spectrum serine protease that degrades extracellular matrix (ECM) components, a function exploited by multiple pathogens for dissemination purposes. The trematode Fasciola hepatica is the leading cause of fasciolosis, a major disease of livestock and an emerging zoonosis in humans. Infection success depends on the ability of F.
