Tomato is known for its remarkable contents of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. A pot experiment was performed during the winter-summer transition from December 2022 to April 2023 combining low to high fertilizer rates and plant growth regulators (PGRs). The objective was to decrease the utilization of artificial fertilizers through the application of PGRs.

Due to shallow root systems, potato is a particularly drought-sensitive crop. To counteract these limitations, the application of plant growth-promoting microorganisms (PGPMs) is discussed as a strategy to improve nutrient acquisition and biotic and abiotic stress resilience. However, initial root colonization by PGPMs, in particular, can be affected by stress factors that negatively impact root growth and activity or the survival of PGPMs in the rhizosphere.

Embryo abortion at the heart-shaped stage is the main reason for the failure of interspecific hybridization of hydrangea, and salicylic acid plays a key role during embryo abortion. Difficulties in obtaining seeds from interspecific hybridization between Hydrangea macrophylla and H. arborescens had severely restricted the process of breeding new hydrangea varieties.
