Amplification of an Electrochemiluminescence-Emissive Aptamer into DNA Nanotags for Sensitive Fecal Calprotectin Determination.

Anal Chem

December 2023

Key Laboratory of Metabolic Engineering and Biosynthesis Technology of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, School of Environmental and Biological Engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing 210094, China.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study highlights the development of a unique DNA-based structure, called ZnPDF, which integrates specific sequences to increase signal output and streamline the testing process, eliminating the need for traditional ECL components.
  • * By optimizing bioprocessing, the ZnPDF sensor achieved a detection limit significantly lower than standard methods, promising a more accurate and effective diagnostic tool for IBD in clinical applications.

A spectrum of novel anti-vascular endothelial cells autoantibodies in idiopathic nephrotic syndrome patients.

Department of Nephrology, The Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, National Clinical Research Center for Child Health, National Children's Regional Medical Center, Hangzhou 310052, China. Electronic address:

Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (INS) is a common renal disease characterized by disruption of the glomerular filtration barrier. In a previous study, we screened and identified podocyte autoantibodies in nephrotic syndrome patients and proposed the concept of autoimmune podocytopathy. However, circulating podocyte autoantibodies cannot reach podocytes unless glomerular endothelial cells have been damaged.

Article Synopsis
  • Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) offer a new way to deliver drugs like proteins and peptides, but loading hydrophilic drugs is tricky.
  • A Box-Behnken design was used to optimize Erythropoietin (EPO) loaded SLNs, ensuring EPO maintained its stability during the preparation process.
  • The optimal formulation resulted in SLNs that were 280 nm in size with a 43.4% entrapment efficiency, showing promise for effective delivery with improved safety in both in vitro and in vivo studies.

Lipid nanocapsules (LNCs) offer a promising method for the entrapment and nanovectorisation of lipophilic molecules. This new type of nanocarrier, formulated according to a solvent-free process and using only regulatory-approved components, exhibits many prerequisites for being well tolerated. Although toxicological reference values have already been obtained in mice, interaction of LNCs at the cell level needs to be elucidated.

Comparative differential proteomic analysis of minimal change disease and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.

BMC Nephrol

February 2017

Laboratory of Experimental Nephrology, Institut d'Investigació en Ciències de la Salut Germans Trias i Pujol, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Badalona, Spain.

Background: Minimal change disease (MCD) and primary focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) are glomerular diseases characterized by nephrotic syndrome. Their diagnosis requires a renal biopsy, but it is an invasive procedure with potential complications. In a small biopsy sample, where only normal glomeruli are observed, FSGS cannot be differentiated from MCD.
