Oxygen Vacancy-Induced Room-Temperature Ferromagnetism in a Layered Aluminosilicate Material.

Nano Lett

March 2025

Chaozhou Branch of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Guangdong Laboratory, Chaozhou 521000, China.

Defect engineering has been utilized to induce ferromagnetism in various nonmagnetic van der Waals (vdW) crystals, which are vital for fundamental research and applications. Herein, oxygen vacancies were successfully created in montmorillonite, a layered aluminosilicate, by acetic acid treatment and annealing in an argon atmosphere. This treatment facilitated the transition from paramagnetism to room-temperature ferromagnetism with a Curie temperature of 330 K.

Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites originating from several species of fungi that have proven to demonstrate high toxicity. In addition, potential contamination sources can promote increased human exposure to the adverse effects of these toxins. For this reason, it was necessary to develop several analytical methods that allow detection with the highest possible sensitivity for these toxic metabolites.

The shaping process is recognized as a crucial step in the manufacturing of green tea. However, its influence on aroma quality remains unclear. In this study, the effects of four shaping techniques, including flat green tea (FGT), straight green tea (SGT), phoenix green tea (PGT), and curled green tea (CGT), on the aroma quality and volatile metabolites of green tea were investigated by gas chromatography electronic nose (GC-E-Nose) and gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS).

CDs/TiO nanohybrids were synthesized and tested for photocatalytic H production from aqueous media through simulated solar light-driven photocatalytic reactions. Firstly, three different types of CDs were prepared through green methods, specifically hydrothermal treatment and microwave irradiation, using citric acid and urea as precursors in varying molar ratios. After a multi-step purification procedure, impurity-free CDs were obtained.
