Objective: This study aims to explore the therapeutic mechanism of Massa Medicata Fermentata (MMF) with different formulations on spleen deficiency constipation in mice by analyzing gastrointestinal hormones, D-xylose, intestinal microbiota, and intestinal enzyme activities.
Methods: A spleen deficiency constipation model was established using an oral administration of Sennae Folium decoction combined with controlled diet and water intake. After successful model establishment, the mice with spleen deficiency constipation were treated with MMF S1, S2, S3.

This study examines the effects of incorporating serotonin (5-HT) into proteinoid microspheres. It looks at the microspheres' structure and electrochemical properties. Proteinoid-serotonin assemblies have better symmetry and membrane organization than pristine proteinoids.

Patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) have a higher risk of developing colorectal cancer (CRC), however, the metabolic shifts during the UC-to-CRC transition remain elusive. In this study, an AOM-DSS-induced three-stage colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC) model is constructed and targeted metabolomics analysis and pathway enrichment are performed, uncovering the metabolic changes in this transition. Spatial metabolic trajectories in the "normal-to-normal adjacent tissue (NAT)-to-tumor" transition, and temporal metabolic trajectories in the "colitis-to-dysplasia-to-carcinoma" transition are identified through K-means clustering of 74 spatially and 77 temporally differential metabolites, respectively.

Background And Aims: Depression is a prevalent comorbidity among patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). While recent studies have hinted at a possible association between CHD and antidepressant medications like sertraline, the existing evidence remains inconclusive. To investigate this potential link, we conducted a comprehensive systematic review.

The serotonin 7 receptor (5-HTR) regulates various processes in the central nervous system, including mood, learning, and circadian rhythm control, among others. Receptor activation can lead to activation of the Gα protein and a subsequent increase of intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). Receptor interaction with inverse agonists results in a decrease of basal cAMP levels and therefore a downstream effect of reduced neuronal excitability and neurotransmission.
