Laboratory testing is a pre-requisite for the practical application of new methods and techniques, and it is crucial in the research and development of acoustic well-logging tools. Various tools have been developed based on different acoustic logging theories and methods. Thus, these tools are equipped with different acoustic sonde structures.

A novel underwater antenna (which we named an 'aquaerial') for telemetering the biological signals from freely swimming fish in freshwater natural environments is presented. It is designed for receiving a 90-100 MHz carrier wave and consists of plural unit receiving antennas (UAs). The plural UAs are placed underwater to cover the area where the target fish carrying the transmitter is swimming.

We have developed and used a system for recording and analyzing the electrocardiogram (ECG) of the horse during exercise. The system consists of a commercial ECG transmitter telemetering a Z lead (base-apex) ECG from an exercising horse. The received data are then remodulated at an audio frequency and stored on a audio cassette recorder.

Cardiovascular studies on conscious laboratory animals are required for an accurate assessment in drug evaluations. However, attempts to define pharmacological significance of an agent in conscious and unrestrained animals have been limited by the techniques available for recording the cardiovascular parameters. We designed a system which can be applied to record biological pressure, such as the blood pressure, using a miniature FM-FM radio-transmitter and a receiver demodulator.
