Although it has been recognized that females are more susceptible to chemical-induced liver injury, the effects of dibutyl phthalate (DBP), a widely used synthetic chemical, on female liver structure and function are under-researched. Here, we sought to investigate the effects of DBP on histological, stereological, and biochemical parameters, as well as global gene expression in female rat liver. Female Wistar rats were exposed to 100, 500, and 5000 mg DBP/kg diet for 28 days, corresponding to 8.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is associated with systemic complications, including the development of pulmonary injury, characterized mainly by excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix components and inflammatory cell infiltration in lung tissue. This process is driven by oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, both caused and exacerbated by hyperglycemia. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and glycine, known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, offer potential therapeutic benefits in mitigating diabetes-induced lung injury.

Pulmonary fibrosis is a refractory entity with a progressive course and no effective therapeutic options. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential involvement of both glabridin and dexamethasone (Dex) in inflammatory and fibrotic responses in a bleomycin (BLM)-induced pulmonary fibrosis model. The role of Ca-activated K channels (BK) in the anti-inflammatory effects of glabridin was also examined.

Article Synopsis
  • The study assessed the protective effects of pentoxifylline, lovastatin, and chlorpromazine against kidney damage caused by ischemia and reperfusion in animals.
  • A total of 36 male animals were divided into four groups, with one group receiving no treatment and the others treated with one of the three substances.
  • Results showed that while chlorpromazine was effective in the short term, pentoxifylline was the most effective overall in preserving kidney structure, with all three treatments ultimately demonstrating effectiveness.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare diet-induced obesity (DIO) models in zebrafish and investigate the complications and differences between sexes in biochemical and inflammatory parameters.

Methods: Adult animals of both sexes were divided into four groups ( = 50) and fed for eight weeks: control group 1: sp. (15-30 mg/day/fish); control group 2: commercial fish food (3.
