Breast cancer ranks as the second leading reason of cancer mortality among females globally, emphasizing the critical need for novel anticancer treatments. In current work, berberine-zinc oxide conjugated chitosan nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized using various characterization techniques. The cytotoxic effects of CS-ZnO-Ber NPs on MCF-7 cells were assessed using the MTT assay.

Tunable redox-sensitive polymeric-lipid hybrid nanocarriers (RS-PLHNCs) were fabricated using homogenization and nanoprecipitation methods. These nanocarriers were composed of novel redox-cholesterol with disulfide linkages and synthesized by conjugating cholesterol with dithiodipropionic acid esterification. Berberine (BBR) was loaded into the fabricated nanocarriers to investigate the selective uptake of BBR by cancer cells as well as its release and enhanced cytotoxicity.

In this study, a novel berberine based anion-exchanged hypercrosslinked polymer (BBR-HCPs) was synthesized via Friedel-Crafts alkylation using dimethoxymethane as a cross-linking agent. The proposed BBR-HCPs polymer exhibited excellent adsorption capacities for aristolochic acids (AAs). Moreover, there are various interactions such as hydrophobic, π-π stacking, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic interactions between BBR-HCPs and AAs.

The determination of isoquinoline alkaloids (IQAs) is crucial for maximizing the pharmacological benefits of Rhizoma coptidis (RC). In this study, the dendritic silica sphere (dSiO) was covalently modified with cyanuric chloride (CNCl) to synthesize a porous dNSiO-CNCl NP. The fluorescence of berberine (Ber), palmatine (Pal), coptisine (Cop), and jatrorrhizine (Jat) was remarkably enhanced by dNSiO-CNCl NP for at least 38-fold, inspiring the accurate determination of the isoquinoline total alkaloids (IQTAs) in RC using fluorometry.
